BIG BRAVE HUNTERS RUN FROM DEBATE
Earlier today the Frontline programme, hosted by Pat Kenny, has been forced to pull an item on stag hunting due to be aired this Monday night after Hunting Association of Ireland spokesperson Gavin Duffy refused to appear and debate the issue with animal rights activists.
Dragons Den’s Duffy, along with Liam Cahill professional media man and spokesperson for RISE (Rural Ireland Says Enough) are the two most prominent media performers for the blood sports lobby in this country and both are ex-RTE staff members.
‘We are flabbergasted that animal abusers and their professional PR team are afraid to debate the bloody issue of hunting with animal rights activists. This is the second time a programme was axed, when the pink –jacketed stag hunters turned yellow when faced with the prospect of defending the indefensible’
‘These people brag that all of rural Ireland is behind their arrogant pastime, they are very brave when facing a defenceless animal but they run for the hills when they have to justify abusing animals’ Bernie Wright, spokesperson AOHS.
• Tom Hardiman, Farmers against foxhunting’s Philip Lynch , and ourselves were earmarked to appear on Mondays programme. This was to coincide with the last meet was on Monday for the ward union stag-hunt.
• This is the second time that the hunters have pulled out of an RTE programme, forcing the national broadcaster to drop an item scheduled to discuss hunting. Two years ago the producers of the Late Late Show, (again when hosted by Pat Kenny,) were left red-faced when the hunters refused to appear opposite farmers’ representatives opposed to hunting.
