The Covid response was the opposite of what appeared in long-prepared pandemic plans ? and turned accepted principles of medical ethics on their heads, with disastrous results, says Dr Alan Mordue.

Cherry-picked temperature data taken from near exhaust-spewing runways does not a scientific study make, says Chris Morrison. The BBC's latest steaming pile of "extreme heat" alarmism is just more extreme nonsense.

Rossport Solidarity June Gathering

category mayo | rights, freedoms and repression | event notice author Wednesday May 12, 2010 09:56author by Rossport Solidarity Camp Report this post to the editors

The fifth annual Rossport Solidarity June Gathering returns for another weekend jam-packed with workshops, music, family activities, discussions, and fun! The gathering is on the June Bank Holiday weekend, from the 4th-7th of June, in North Mayo.

The fight against Shell continues, and they've been put on the back foot by the decision of An Bord Pleanala which found that their plans posed 'an unacceptable risk' to health and safety. So they have to try a different route, and drill up to 80 boreholes in the Special Area of Conservation of Sruwaddacon Estuary – but they'll be met with resistance!

The gathering has always been a place for people interested in the Shell to Sea campaign to come and meet, learn about the campaign and issues around it like community resistance and natural resources, eat great food together, show solidarity with the local community, discuss the direction of the campaign, and have a brilliant party!

Just some of the workshops we have lined up:

* History and Future direction of the campaign
* Direct action
* Natural resources
* Women of Erris
* The recession and its impacts
* The history and archaeology of Kilcommon
* Talk on the Conference for Mother Earth in Bolivia
* Imperialism
* Know your rights

Loads of music, facepainting, and craic!

What you need to bring: A tent and sleeping bag, waterproofs, a decent pair of boots, suncream (for the more optimistic!) and a positive attitude.

However if you need a bed in the camp house let us know in advance and we'll make every effort to accommodate you.
