Cuban Healthcare in Haiti

The seminar will include a screening of the film Haiti's Healthcare Reborn (22mins) focusing on Cuba’s response to the Haitian earthquake in January and longer—term healthcare and education work in Haiti. At the time of the earthquake, Cuba already had 152 medical and education personnel working in the Haitian capital Port au Prince and was immediately treating the injured in a field hospital. Cuba has over 40,000 medical personnel operating in 103 countries, a major contribution from a developing country subject to an economic blockade by the United States.
