I was at the Arms Around Moore Street protest and have not heard a thing since. Can you please tell what the latest news is regarding no 16 Moore Street ? I can not atten the meeting as much as I would like to.

In the current climite of deflated building projects that no one wants, I hope the plans are quashed. We have enough empty hotels, appartments blocks and coffee shops. Now that Fianna Fail misserably are moaning about tourism, they might see some sence in preserving our pricless history and heritage. Maybe Joe ''The socialist'' Duffy who is proposing James Connolly as Irelands greatest person on RTE next Monday evening might donate some of his time to saving 16 Moore Street. I dont expect he will, Ireland is full of phoney lefttist like Duffy who claim to be socialist and admire people like James Connolly. Connolly would turn in his grave if he thought he had any association with the likes of money bags Duffy who defends the Gombeen men and women who have bled this country dry.

I have just come across this story, and have read the comments, joe duffy in fairness did give air time to those who felt there are many in RTE who are overpaid, and some who are at liberty to not take the cut,we the working class do not have that liberty.I rang joe but i didn't get through to him...................
While we were hitting the recession, nobody stood up and made noise about it ,not one peep,on some level i feel we are all to blame, eventhough we didnt sell our country out and fianna fail did,but what we did was worse we sat by comfortably and watched..while there are the impoverished and the immigrants, who are exploited by our own government.

Emergency Motion - Dublin City Council Monday 10th January 2011

"In view of the media reports over the holiday period this Council requests the Manager to report on:

Why it was considered necessary to interfere with the National Monument at 14-17 Moore Street?
At what stages were the structures considered a danger to the public?
At whose behest was the demolition decided upon?
What steps were taken prior to demolition to advice the public of their dangerous condition?
Was any consideration given to the possibility of action other than demolition in order to render the buildings safe?
Are the important architectural elements of the building now in storage with a view to their reinstatement?

This Council, mindful of its repeated determination to safeguard these buildings in the context of their hugely imortant role in the establishment of the State, requests the Manager to report on what measures he will take, if necessary in partnership with Government agencies, to ensure their protection."
