In beaumont hospital two wards were closed earlier this year with a further closure of another 10 beds recently. This means that at least 62 beds have been closed already this year. Further threats to services to renal patients are also being made. Patient services to these patients have been curtailed – down from two wards to one. Meanwhile as these wards lie empty the a&e crisis in beaumont continues to become more and more chaotic

The a&e crisis is now higher than its ever been, worse than it was back in 2006 when mary harney declared it a ‘national emergency’ with the number of patients waiting on trolleys up by 33% since then. And that is nothing to what is coming down the line. The mccarthy report seeks to strip away up to 4,000 acute beds, that is 36% of the total national acute beds.

Government policy is save the rich and rob the poor
It’s a slash and burn approach from a government whose open strategy is to protect its rich friends in the banking and property industry at any cost.

It’s a policy based on the transfer of the debt of private bank to the public purse; throw endless billions into zombie banks and bail out the biggest property developers in the country. All this with our money and endless borrowing in our name.

We are being inflicted with what will be the biggest attack on our health services ever more serious than the 1980’s attacks - together with a huge assault on our pay and conditions as workers.

Local campaigns are emerging through out the country against attacks on local health services and hospitals. We in the beaumont area should be part of that.

Come to the Public Meeting in St John Vianney Hall Ardlea Road Artane at 8pm on Monday 6th December
