Is the academic publishing industry facing ruin from open access journals? Not likely, says Prof Roger Watson. There are some pretty fundamental problems with trying to run a journal that nobody pays for.

Shells survey work stopped agein

Protesters against Shell get in the way to stop work

This morning 6 people got in the way of Shell's survey work causing them to pack up and go away.
Work being Disrupted
Work being Disrupted

6 people walked down on the Glengad beach where survey work was being carried out. The work was stopped straight away with the security being caught completely off guard.
To stop the work, the protesters only had to cause a disruption for 20 minuets, no gardai where called and no one was arrested.

In order to continue disrupting this work we need more people to come up to the camp. Although it does not seem the like the most important work to stop, they still need to complete their survey work before they can build anything and its very easy to stop. We need people to come up to the camp and continue supporting and taking part in these actions

This weekend we are running Non Violent Direct Action workshops at the camp house in Barr Na Coilleadh. If you have ever wanted to take action and be part of the campaign, the time is now!
All welcome, open to complete beginners-no experience necessary.

For anyone thinking about visiting the area, get in touch with the camp at rossportsolidaritycamp@gmail.com if you have any questions or would like to get involved.
