Fergal McCluskey – The Tan War in Tyrone, 1920-21: a comparative analysis of I.R.A. and Crown Forces’ violence
Fergal is a native of Dungannon, Co Tyrone. He studied at Queens University Belfast where he received a BA and MA in Modern History. In 2007, he completed a PhD at the same institution, which Manchester University Press has recently published as Fenians and Ribbonmen: The Development of Republican Politics in East Tyrone, 1898-1918. His talk is based on post-doctoral research at the National University of Ireland, Galway between 2008-10, the findings of which will be published by Four Courts Press Dublin in 2012, as part of their upcoming popular series on the Irish revolution. A qualified teacher by profession, he currently works in Coláiste Feirste, Belfast’s Irish-medium college.
The talk will take place in Gort na Móna CLG, Springfield Road, Belfast.
It will be followed by a traditional music session.
