Im going to say though i find halal worse and the evil and cruelty in Turkey knows no bounds, they say that the stress in the meat is consumed by the buyer, that the animals produce cortisol in large amounts while being slaughtered and it is still in the meat.....Eating meat increases your risk of heart disease, parkinsons and so much more , it is bad for the planet and it is unessecarily barbaric! Time to end it now there are so many other options,i used to think if its not meat its not a meal - it actually took me a long , long time to get my head around that one!Go Veganhttp://www.indymedia.ie/article/106149#comment3011852017-06-04T15:32:44+00:00Linda McJuniorExactly the same reason for me deciding that being a veggie just wasn’t good eno...Exactly the same reason for me deciding that being a veggie just wasn’t good enough,Co2 .I have also smelt the absolutely sickening stench of self-justifying hypocrisy that wafts over from our agricultural community’s backyard barbeques. I’m sorry to say that the fumes of death and decay pollute our “friends” in the soi-dissant “ animal-loving” vegetarian community. You all know who I’m talking about , the ones who just can’t understand- because they don’t want to understand!- that it is just as immoral and cruel to eat a dead fish as it is to eat a disgusting lump of dead pig flesh .But for me the hypocrisy of the average vegetarian makes them even more disgusting , even more nauseating than the average ignorant meat-eating murderers that constitute the bulk of this world’s odious human population .Whenever I think about these vegetarian hypocrites it make me literally want to vomit up my dinner into the nearest bucket .
We'll have none of your "divide and conquer" tricks thanks.http://www.indymedia.ie/article/106149#comment3011872017-06-05T04:12:07+00:00Animal LoverLinda McJunior wants to turn vegans and vegetarians against each other but we're...Linda McJunior wants to turn vegans and vegetarians against each other but we're not stupid enough to do the meat industry's work for them are we fellow voiceless animal defenders?

Some people go all the way and we applaud their purity. Ideally we should all be vegans. Others are not so strong willed but they acknowledge the wrongness of our silent holocaust of voiceless animals and do what they can. Maybe one day they will become vegans as part of a more gradual process rather than an abrupt change. Others still are too enmeshed in the peer pressure and lifelong habits of animal exploitation due to the culture they were raised in and the ostracisation they would suffer by making such a change yet they still have an increasing awareness of the situation and have taken some steps to lessen their bloody footprint.

The point is ANY effort in the right direction is always better than no effort. Better to be more tolerant of those making some effort in the hope that the process will continue rather than being extremist and militant and alienating everybody and being written off as cranks which is how it has largely been with vegans in the media to the great benefit of the animal exploitation industries whose business interests this widely held picture of animal rights activists and vegans serves. Divide and conquer.

There is a commonsense obvious immorality in supporting the annual proxy slaughter of billions of animals in order to create food products we do not need to survive not to mention to create a myriad of cosmetic and other completely unnecessary products we totally do not require at all Most people see this whether they like it or not when the information is presented to them. There is no need to alienate them. Just get the information across and most non sociopaths will get it.

Ideally we should all be vegans, for our health, for our long term survival on planet earth as a species from a CO2 perspective, and last but not least, because it is wrong to systematically kill and torture billions of animals every year, merely because they cannot talk or fight back and, well, just because we can. The thing that truly differentiates us from other animals is our ability to examine our own behaviour in an ethical context and decide that we wish to go against our own cruel animal nature because it is clearly the right thing to do, if one assumes that the phenomenon of life actually has a value, and needless pain, suffering and misery is not a good, both being points of view that most non sociopaths would likely go along with.

But the road to enlightenment is a process. We should not destroy that process by alienating everybody just starting out on on that road because some clever provocateur or other on the internet manipulates us into doing so. We should instead encourage those people in their efforts and give them the information and help they need to progress.

Let's not do the factory farming and other animal exploitation industries' jobs for them by helping them implement their divide and conquer tactic on ourselves, alienating like minded people who are on the same road as us, and basically shooting ourselves in the foot in the process. This old trick has worked on us for far too long.

You are doing the work of the animal torturers and profiteers by driving away many people very sympathetic to the cause.
You sound just like a provocateur, or possibly just a sick troll taking the piss.
This is a serious issue.

Anyone sympathetic to the plight of animals is to be welcomed, not just those who are ethically perfect.as you imply you are
No point in being just a self congratulatory echo chamber preaching to the choir as folks such as you would like.
And even if you were genuine (hah!) I'm pretty certain I could find things in your life which indirectly contribute to animal suffering too.animal loverhttp://www.indymedia.ie/article/106149#comment3011992017-06-15T16:37:21+00:00linda mc.No I am not taking the piss.....Given your attitude you should perhaps

Wild bird conservationists have supported the release of endangered raptors in the mountains of Donegal and Kerry - which species have then attacked lambs, and smaller species of wild birds. Many fox lovers have campaigned against fox hunting, regardless of the predatory habits of these fine red animals which regularly kill lambs, chickens and wild birds. Humans can be sentimental about wild animals and birds, but the creatures of nature are not sentimental. They are survivalists and seek out prey to survive. Nature and nature conservation is full of contradictions.Yes well puthttp://www.indymedia.ie/article/106149#comment3012042017-06-17T18:46:25+00:00B KingThats the very point myself and and animal lover made against the troll ,Linda M...Thats the very point myself and and animal lover made against the troll ,Linda McMuffin.
