Octogenarian Hedy Epstein knows what she's talking about when it comes to fascism. She alone of all her family survived the Nazi anti-Jewish onslsaught in the Germany of the Thirties because her parents managed to send her out of the country on the Kindertransport. Her family subsequently perished in the concentration camps. Because of her experiences Hedy became a strong campaigner for human rights. She has supported many causes including that of Palestinian liberation. She has consistently criticised the policies of the State of Israel, drawing comparisons between these and those of the Nazis. Because of this she has been the object of vitriolic attacks by the Zionist lobby. She pulls no punches as the title of her latest tour of Britain and Ireland shows. read full story / add a comment

Tháinig ar a laghad 50 duine chuig léirsiú Shell chun Sáile i mBaile Andarsain i mBéal Feirste tráthnóna inniu, ag tacú le Maura Harrington agus ag éileamh go gcuirtear an Solitaire thar sáile. Níorbh fhada gur chuir bainisteoir an staisiúin Shell scairt ar na póilíní, ach lean na gníomhaígh leis an agóid, ag scaipeadh billeogaí faoi Maura ags an cás i Maigh Eo faoi láthair. Mar is gnáth, fuair na gníomhaígh tacaíocht mhór ón phobal, tiománaithe ag buladh a mbonnán agus coisithe ag tabhairt a mbeannacht leis an fheachtas. Leanfar leis na léirsithe agus an feachtas ag dul chun cinn. read full story / add a comment ![]()

The 2ND Belfast Anarchist Bookfair recently took place building on the success of the previous year. Stalls were provided by the WSM, Choice Ireland, Just Books, Organise! and Revolutionary Anarcha-feminist group(RAG) as well as groups from as far as England and Scotland including Solidarity Federation giving the bookfair an international flavour. The Bookfair provides a healthy platform for constructive debate and discussion from past to present struggles. To exchange experiences, to reflect and agitate are all essential ingredients for a stronger, more vibrant class struggle anarchist movement in the future. Below are some of the audio recordings from of the public meetings which took place on the day. read full story / add a comment ![]()

While the rest of us are coming to terms with a deepening recession, growing house repossessions, stagnation in rises and steep rise in the cost of living. In the face of a so-called downturn in the housing market and credit crunch, the wealthy in the form of parasitic property developers and speculators expect to be bailed out by the Government for their calculated era in borrowing too much from Banks and leading to first time buyers read full story / add a comment ![]()

Since its inception early this year the Belfast branch of WSM continues to go from strength to strength, growing in size and establishing new contacts. At the moment we distribute a 1000 copies of the Ulster edition of Workers Solidarity to homes across Belfast and at political events. We hope to expand our current distribution in the coming months. WSM members continue to take part in the current campaign against the water charges. We have attended and helped to organise pickets in solidarity with fellow workers on struggle in the midst of the current neo-liberal offensive and attacks on our living conditions and workers rights by the neo-colonial administration at Stormont. read full story / add a comment ![]()
