Thatcher's " blind eye" to paedophilia

category international | miscellaneous | other press author Thursday March 12, 2015 15:27author by Joe McIvor Report this post to the editors

Former prime minister Margaret Thatcher knew about politicians sexually abusing children , according to the article linked to below - but failed to act against them. According to the UK campaigning MP , Simon Danczuk , ""There is no doubt about it now, from what we know, that she turned a blind eye to people who were quite clearly paedophiles ".

The turned blind eye at the top allowed the likes of paedophile MP Sir Cyril Smith to regard themselves as virtually untouchable. Last year, Liz Lynne, who succeeded Cyril Smith as MP for Rochdale , admitted to the Mail that she had heard ‘inklings of rumours’ about Smith’s involvement in child abuse ,but did nothing about it as she thought the stories were spread by political opponents. Lynne insistence that despite Smith's paedophilia , he had been overall a good constituency MP has been criticized by Martin Digan ,a former manager of the Knowl View children’s home in Rochdale , who says that he attempted to raise concerns about Cyril Smith with Ms Lynne on several occasions:

‘She never got back to me", Digan told the Guardian ."The shame is that many abuse victims could have been helped if Lynne and many others had taken the abuse at Knowl View seriously at that point.’
