TRUMP ENCOURAGES MORE WAR IN THE MIDDLE EAST

category international | anti-war / imperialism | press release author Friday May 11, 2018 22:13author by Irish Anti War Movement Report this post to the editors

IRISH ANTI-WAR MOVEMENT (IAWM)PRESS RELEASE: 11 MAY 2018

he IAWM condemns the withdrawal by US President Trump from the Iran nuclear deal and the imposition of fresh sanctions on the country.

The IAWM also condemns Israel’s overnight attacks on alleged Iranian positions in Syria, a deliberate escalation of aggression which was no doubt inspired if not enabled by Trump’s decision.

The IAWM has long since condemned all foreign and local military action in Syria, including that of Iran, that has killed and maimed so many Syrians. We have called on numerous occasions for a complete and lasting ceasefire and for massive humanitarian aid to help rebuild the country.

This latest dangerous action by Trump specifically against Iran will do nothing to bring peace to Syria or the wider region and could instead lead to further conflagration. We have already seen the immediate military response from Israel and note a report by Agence France-Presse that the Saudi Foregin Minister Adel al-Jubeir said after Trump’s announcement, that Saudi Arabia would do “everything we can” to “build a nuclear bomb if Iran develops one”.

Memet Uludag of the IAWM Steering Committee said:

“We witness yet another imperialist game being played by the US which is the top military and nuclear power in the world. The proposed introduction of sanctions against Iran will only hurt the ordinary Iranian people while strenghtening the hardliners in the regime. While we condemn the actions of Iran’s military in Syria we say that Trump is a very dangerous man managing an already dangerous imperialist US foreign policy. We should oppose these sanctions against Iran. Sanctions did nothing to weaken the Iraqi regime in the past but the Iraqi people sufferred greatly and the subsequent US-led invasion created more suffering for ordinary people and the rise of sectarian division.”

Jim Roche, PRO of the IAWM said:

“Trump is showing his true colours here as a warmonger by withdrawing from this anti-nuclear deal which all the other signatories wished to keep in place. This action could lead to another regional war and even conflagration between the US and Russia which supports Iran. It has clearly given the green light to Israel which attacked alleged Iranian positions the night after Trump’s declaration.”

“Anti-war campaigners must resist this dangerous move to further war and should condemn Trump’s imposition of sanctions against Iran. All the people of the middle east need and deserve peace, not the threat of more war.

You lot were fooled into supporting a US/UK/NATO backed jihadist coup deposing Gadaffi in Libya.

Now you are against Iran (who were invited in by the elected government) fighting to drive out
murdering rapist headhhacking Jihadists in Syria.

Without Iran, Syria would have been overrun already by western and Saudi backed and armed jihadist proxy murderers.
and the country would be yet another failed state like Libya

You need to figure out what a colour revolution is and stop being useful idiots for empire
