Rishi Sunak has once again been dropping hints about leaving the European Convention on Human Rights. This is not credible, says Dr David McGrogan: such a feat would require a Government far more serious than this one.

The great Scottish Enlightenment philosopher David Hume would have some things to teach today's woke activists, says Prof James Allan: about a mind-independent reality that has no truck with claims of 'my truth'.

offsite link Farmers? Biggest Problems are Green Ideologues, not Climate Change Fri Apr 19, 2024 09:00 | Ben Pile
It's been a wet winter and this is bad news for farmers, says Ben Pile. But with agricultural yields increasing sharply over recent decades, there's no reason to link it to climate change or start catostrophising about it.

Galway Comedy Festival relies on Frightened Donkeys to provide sick laughs.

category galway | animal rights | press release author Friday September 16, 2011 10:42author by Bernie Wright - Alliance for Animal Rights AFARauthor email bigbrownrat at gmail dot comauthor address PO Box 4734. D 1author phone 872651720 Report this post to the editors

Cancel the Donkeys cruel spectacle and lets see some real talent.

The AFAR group has been contacted by various people expressing their disgust at the prospect of an animal abusing event in Galway. Are Donkey derbys not a relic of bygone days?
This is the front page of the CURRENT Galway Independent. As part of a forthcoming "comedy" festival, radio presenter (Hector OhEochagáin) is publicising a Donkey Derby.
AFAR is totally opposed to cruel spectacles especially in light of the increasing number of horse and equine cases that have come to light.animal violations are increasing at an alarming rate as any one will confirm who is involved in animal protection.
This farce of bygone days shows lact of iniative and forethought and blatent disregard for sentient gentle animals.

The Cork Donkey Sanctuary also oppose this event.
We want this cruel activity canceled and removed from the programe of the forthcoming Galway Comedy Festival.

OUR AFAR ACTION ALERT;
Please email, phone or text the organiser,, explaining to them that using donkeys in this way is very stressful,cruel and totally unnecessary. There are many ways to enjoy a festival without using a defenseless animal for gambling and for laughs

Ask THE GALWAY COMEDY FESTIVAL to cancel the proposed 'Derby' from their programe of events
