Calling out George Soros for using his billions to bankroll open borders, woke ideology and soft-on-crime policies isn?t antisemitic ? just telling the awkward, inconvenient truth, argues Steven Tucker.

Friday the 13th Day of Solidarity

category mayo | rights, freedoms and repression | opinion/analysis author Friday July 13, 2012 22:32author by Rossport Solidarity Camp Report this post to the editors

Shell's haulage was repeatedly stopped by protesters from Rossport Solidarity Camp during today’s day of solidarity with the community in Erris under siege from the imposition of the Corrib gas project. There were three actions at different locations along Shell's haulage route between Aughoose and Bangor Erris, which resulted in a significant disruption to the haulage. The actions were also in solidarity with the reclaim the Land action against open cast coal mining in Scotland planned for tomorrow. http://www.indymediascotland.org/node/27202

Around 11am we departed from camp with the intention to stop trucks on the Bangor road. The first we encountered just so happened to be a truck carrying a digger. After protesters had haulted the truck one protester vaulted the arm of the digger on the back. After a half an hour the Gardai arrived issuing them with a warning saying they wouldn't be arrested if they came down of their own accord. However upon clambering down off the digger, they were jumped on pinned to the ground and arrested unlawfully. They will appear in Castlebar District Court next Tuesday the 17th.

While the arrestee was in custody some of the group went out blocking more trucks at the same location without being arrested.

Later that evening a group headed out to the refinery where they occupied the front of the gates. For about an hour many trucks were prevented entry to the refinery, and others were haulted as they passed en route to Aughoose. Satisfied with a long day of action they all went home for their dinner!
