Conference: Brexit and the Environment: Impact on the island of Ireland

category louth | environment | event notice author Monday June 12, 2017 22:49author by anon Report this post to the editors

What impact will Brexit have on the environment on island of Ireland?

What do we know about what the EU and UK sides want to achieve on environmental regulation in the negotiations?

Where? Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dundalk
When? Friday, 16 June 2017, 9.00am - 4pm

Speakers include Mairead McGuinness MEP and Lynn Boylan MEP who are both also Members of the European Parliament's Environment Committee.

Brexit raises question about the potential loss of legislative protection for the natural environment in the North, and what will be the impact on the rest of the island.

Brexit may also put the security of Northern Ireland's energy supply at risk, and have implications for cross-border issues around climate change mitigation, waste management, and water and air pollution.

These are just some of the issues that will be addressed at the conference in Dundalk, held in partnership with the Northern Irish Environmental Link and the European Parliament.

This event is free to attend but prior registration is essential and spaces are limited.

Book your place by contacting the European Parliament officer in Dublin at epdublin@ep.europa.eu or phone 01 605 79 00
