Or is it that you reject political parties? I know that SWP dont exactly have a subtle approach to recruitment. They abuse broad groups they initiate (example GR) and use it for recruitment and dont allow it to develop democraticly. The SWP also have very little internal democracy.
This doesn't mean all parties are like the SWP. I hope that critics of the SWP realise this. All parties have a need for recruitment, Conor I hope that your criticisms of the SWP are not criticisms of parties in general

All parties need to recruit. In the SP we have a recruitment strategy. We want people to join our party and get active. What's wrong with that.
Also I think your assessment of the SWP as a cult is a bit harsh to say the least. I wouldn't classify the SWP as a cult at all. Now look at the sparts, they are a cult. SWP are not.

In my book a cult is an organisation that cuts its members off from family and friends, it keeps total control over its members. The SP does not have total mind control over it's members! there are vibrant debates and discussions among members. The SP are a political party that is based in the working class, we are not cut off from every day reality, members are not cut off from friends and family! Most of our members are community activists and activists in the Trade Unions.
