Greedy miser George Bains earns over £234,000 a year, from his 3 jobs, sitting on boards of big buisness companies, as well as his honorary pay check for his exclusive job as Vice chancellor of Queens University Belfast, yet he has the cheek to slap down our firefighters 40% pay rise. The firefighters are only asking for 1/7 of George's big wages. On George's salary you could employ 7 firefighters.

Snobby greedy miser George Bains, who sits on the boards of several big buisness companies, can hardly be thought of as an independant judge of what needs to be done to the fire service, similar backward ignorant pillocks like old George were responsible for the Fiasco that was privatising the railways and the resultant disaster, mayhem and tradgedy. Extreme capitalist Corner cutting that resulted in numerous train crashes and public deaths etc. This is what George Bains means by modernisation. Who is more qualified and experienced to judge Fire fighting practices, the actual fire fighters who know their work, equipment and logistics inside out, or a cold hearted pen pushing ignorant corporate twat like George Bains.

hope the firefighters don´t get called out to much.
Strange isn´t it how we judge the work that people do? How we value the contributions of members of "society" to the welfare of the "society".
For anarchists the ideas of spending all of life in one work seems such a waste of human potential.
Why is it that some clean toilets.
and others get ten times the sallaey to push pens.
Those who push pens can clean toilets.
Job sharing task sharing is something we really should consider, the role of educational institutions in copperfastening of "life roles" that the search of life term secure "employment"
has become needs to be reconsidered.

Most people can put out a fire if the need is great enough.
But some are trained to do so.
Most people could indeed run a university.
None are trained to do so.

and the elderly.
oh yes that´s something that pisses me off too.
Why are those most wiseamongst us most sidelined?

ok old people wouldn´t make good firefighters.
nor am I suggestinf that they be made clean toilets, but it occurs to me that if most old people had spent a portion of their lives cleaning toilets then they might be happier all round.
