We're a week away from the most painful Budget in history thanks largely to the eye-watering cost of lockdown. Yet Baroness Hallett says next time the Government must be ready to go harder and faster. This is insanity.

It's bad enough that all UK TV users are forced to fund the BBC via a TV licence. But it's worse than that, says Charlotte Gill: millions of pounds of taxpayers' money are handed to the corporation via backdoor channels.

being a meditation on Al Samoud and perfidious lies.

Tanks are on the streets of England. Protest is banned in NYC. Soldiers are protecting Shannon. The USA is expelled from the UN human rights council. The USA has thrashed Kyoto. The USA has castrated the International Tribunal on Human Rights.

The USA has broken more international laws in the past two years than ever before it did or indeed any power has since NAZI germany.

So Things are looking very bad. How bad do they really look? Well we dont know, because we have never before known a situation where the hyper power is deemed to be behaving wrongly by the other powers and most importantly "the people".

These are few precedents for this type of power play. Which is why everyone is getting it all so wrong.

Today I am not going to write at length. I will just point you to a fact from last years reports.
The Al Samoud missile is a short to medium range missile. Information on this weapon was not requested by the IAEA or the UN. The IRaqi governemnt themselves proferred the information in the aftermath of the illegal confiscation of North Korean SCUD missiles in transit to Yemen. This confiscation was carried out by the US navy with support from the Spanish frigate Navarre.
In the immediate aftermath the leader of the Socialist party in Yemen was assasinated. France positioned her fleet between Yemen and Iran and the sad show of lies began. France had earlier lost an oil shipment in the Gulf to an alledged "al qaeda" attack.

Today I am not going to write at length because quite honestly I am not stoned. I have not spent the day smoking fine quality Morrocan hashish.
So I am a little less than "incisive".

So I shall ask you to remember the past.

In the morning hours of August 21, 1968, the Soviet army invaded Czechoslovakia along with troops from four other Warsaw Pact countries. The occupation was the beginning of the end for the Czechoslovak reform movement known as the Prague Spring. The reform movement had been brewing for years, fed by economic problems as well as growing demands from Communist intellectuals for more freedom and pluralism within a socialist system. But it really gathered steam at the beginning of 1968, in January, when the Communist Party's Central Committee replaced its hard-line First Secretary Antonin Novotny with the moderate reformer Alexander Dubcek, who eventually sided more and more clearly with the forces for change. In March, censorship was loosened and Novotny was relieved of his other function, President of the Republic. He was replaced by a career soldier, Ludvik Svoboda, whose last name in Czech means "freedom"-- a purely linguistic coincidence that countless posters and flyers during the invasion made use of.

and another past.

Hungary.

In the past Europeans have learnt most brutal lessons when the freedoms at heart of our constitutional Republics are overturned by hostile and illegal action by the neighbouring hyper-power.

Finally read this. a report of the Spanish based anarcho-network NODO 50. many posts here and on other sites come from the NODO50 bunch. This report is not new, but it makes interesting reading so read it.

The truth is the Americans are dangerous.
They always were but never as dangerous as they are now. That really is worth giving very serious thought to as we see tanks on the streets, police in our email, protest banned, a USA that is expelled from council after council and even obtructs the working of the World Bank.
When America is dangerous the world is at serious risk. And the only precedents we have are the formerly dangerous Soviet Union.
