UCC has paid huge sums to a criminal professor
This story is not for republication. I bear responsibility for the things I write. I have read the guidelines and understand that I must not write anything untrue, and I won't.
This is a public interest story about a complete failure of governance and management at UCC.
Deliberate Design Flaw In ChatGPT-5 Sun Aug 17, 2025 08:04 | Mind Agent
Socratic Dialog Between ChatGPT-5 and Mind Agent Reveals Fatal and Deliberate 'Design by Construction' Flaw
This design flaw in ChatGPT-5's default epistemic mode subverts what the much touted ChatGPT-5 can do... so long as the flaw is not tickled, any usage should be fine---The epistemological question is: how would anyone in the public, includes you reading this (since no one is all knowing), in an unfamiliar domain know whether or not the flaw has been tickled when seeking information or understanding of a domain without prior knowledge of that domain???!
This analysis is a pretty unique and significant contribution to the space of empirical evaluation of LLMs that exist in AI public world... at least thus far, as far as I am aware! For what it's worth--as if anyone in the ChatGPT universe cares as they pile up on using the "PhD level scholar in your pocket".
According to GPT-5, and according to my tests, this flaw exists in all LLMs... What is revealing is the deduction GPT-5 made: Why ?design choice? starts looking like ?deliberate flaw?.
People are paying $200 a month to not just ChatGPT, but all major LLMs have similar Pro pricing! I bet they, like the normal user of free ChatGPT, stay in LLM's default mode where the flaw manifests itself. As it did in this evaluation.
AI Reach: Gemini Reasoning Question of God Sat Aug 02, 2025 20:00 | Mind Agent
Evaluating Semantic Reasoning Capability of AI Chatbot on Ontologically Deep Abstract (bias neutral) Thought
I have been evaluating AI Chatbot agents for their epistemic limits over the past two months, and have tested all major AI Agents, ChatGPT, Grok, Claude, Perplexity, and DeepSeek, for their epistemic limits and their negative impact as information gate-keepers.... Today I decided to test for how AI could be the boon for humanity in other positive areas, such as in completely abstract realms, such as metaphysical thought. Meaning, I wanted to test the LLMs for Positives beyond what most researchers benchmark these for, or have expressed in the approx. 2500 Turing tests in Humanity?s Last Exam.. And I chose as my first candidate, Google DeepMind's Gemini as I had not evaluated it before on anything.
Israeli Human Rights Group B'Tselem finally Admits It is Genocide releasing Our Genocide report Fri Aug 01, 2025 23:54 | 1 of indy
We have all known it for over 2 years that it is a genocide in Gaza
Israeli human rights group B'Tselem has finally admitted what everyone else outside Israel has known for two years is that the Israeli state is carrying out a genocide in Gaza
Western governments like the USA are complicit in it as they have been supplying the huge bombs and missiles used by Israel and dropped on innocent civilians in Gaza. One phone call from the USA regime could have ended it at any point. However many other countries are complicity with their tacit approval and neighboring Arab countries have been pretty spinless too in their support
With the release of this report titled: Our Genocide -there is a good chance this will make it okay for more people within Israel itself to speak out and do something about it despite the fact that many there are actually in support of the Gaza
China?s CITY WIDE CASH SEIZURES Begin ? ATMs Frozen, Digital Yuan FORCED Overnight Wed Jul 30, 2025 21:40 | 1 of indy
This story is unverified but it is very instructive of what will happen when cash is removed
THIS STORY IS UNVERIFIED BUT PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO OR READ THE TRANSCRIPT AS IT GIVES AN VERY GOOD IDEA OF WHAT A CASHLESS SOCIETY WILL LOOK LIKE. And it ain't pretty
A single video report has come out of China claiming China's biggest cities are now cashless, not by choice, but by force. The report goes on to claim ATMs have gone dark, vaults are being emptied. And overnight (July 20 into 21), the digital yuan is the only currency allowed.

To quote from the website itslef
"The Independent Media Centre is a network of collectively run media outlets for the creation of radical, accurate, and passionate tellings of the truth"
The last time I checked press releases, and passionate tellings of truth had an air of mutual exclusivity with regard to one another. Any nedia outlet which prints a series of press releases and insists that it consists of news tends to be highly suspect. Journalism is the product of something you investigate, press releases are the product of something you market. One should not mistake one for the other.
Thanks for RSF the posts.I didn't see them in any other papers.Isn't this what Indynedia is?
It depends which war you are talking about..
Surprising that an organisation that supports the random murder of civilians can have a say here without fear of removal, but when I make a statement on a consentual sexual act between two adults ,I find my message deleted! Kinda says something about the moral standards found on this board.
So far as I can see it reads something like this...
Murder,criminal activity,anti social behaviour=GOOD
Physical demonstrations of love, survival of the human race by procreation=BAD
I've never heard of "Republican Sinn Fein". Are they against the war?
of a malignant god is this?
Where in the name of all that is sane and decent did you manage to mangle the concept of news and reportage into an unmanageable screed of press releases? What in the name of Christ is newsworthy about this?
You terminal freaks, I'm damned sick and tired of the cynicism you use to ambush all thats good and decent about democratic forums in the name of a lame and subnormal journalism.
Its not that I am against cynicism per se. But you practice it with all the wit and guile of a drug addled chimp on an absinthe binge. You insult me with this offering. Mother of buddha.
In what sense is this news?
And if its not news, get it the fuck off the ....wait for it....the clue is in the name....get it the fuck off the NEWSwire.
shelta using this as an excuse to have a go at labour and talk up the sinners....how out of character.
Be it noted that alone among leaders of political parties, Ruari O Bradaigh spoke out on the exclusion of B. Devlin-McAliskey from the U.S. Clearly all the other parties are so integrated into the Anglo-American system-politically, economically, culturally-that they fear taking an oppositional stand. That is why they are looking for the figleaf of a U.N. Security Council resolution to support the Blair/Bush war. If the bribery and bullying of the U.S. succeeds and the UN backs Anglo-America then the war is legitimate and just. This is the position of the Labour Party. What a mockery of James Connolly!
I thought indymedia was about bringing us up-to-date news stories, not a resource for political parties to hijack.
9+ press releases! Can you not count!
Indymedia is in danger of becoming a clearing house for lazy ass press officers.
Think before you post over and over again.

Des Dalton, Assistant Publicity Officer, Republican Sinn Féin
March 7, 2003
Republican Sinn Féin Assistant PRO Des Dalton said that both Mick O'Reilly and Eugene McGlone were victims of a "political vendetta", he was reacting to the news that the appeals by ATGWU General Secretary, Mick O'Reilly and his Deputy, Eugene McGlone have been rejected by the three person Union panel, based in London, appointed to hear the men's appeal.
"Mick O'Reilly and Eugene McGlone are victims of a political vendetta. Their only crime has been their fearless and committed representation of Irish Workers. Because they refused to compromise the rights of the workers they represented, unlike many other Trade Union leaders, they have been made an example of." Des Dalton said.
Des Dalton, Assistant Publicity Officer, Republican Sinn Féin
In a statement Republican Sinn Féin Assistant PRO Des Dalton expressed RSF's opposition to the decision of 'An Bord Peanala' to give the go-ahead to the building of the first waste incinerator in the 26 Counties near Duleek,Co Meath.
"This decision of 'An Bord Pleanala' flies in the face of public opinion, is an assault on local democracy and can only be interpreted as an ill- thought out endorsement of incineration as a means of waste disposal. Once again the current 26 County administration has shown its contempt for public health and the environment as it continues to put profit over people." Des Dalton said.
What has been described as the biggest trial of Republicans in the Special Non-Jury court in Dublin is in danger of total collapse because the State is refusing to pay a solicitor on behalf of all his clients, a member of Republican Sinn Féin said today.
Des Dalton, a member of the Ard Comhairle of RSF, said that Limerick solicitor John Devane is acting for six of the seven men on trial.
"Yet the State is now insisting on paying Mr. Devane for acting only on behalf of Des Long, the vice-president of Republican Sinn Féin," said Mr. Dalton who heads up the RSF prisoners welfare department.
"The fact is John Devane is also the solicitor for five of the other six men- in fact he was acting for seven of the initial eight until one was acquitted. For the past year -and since the very outset he has worked tirelessly for all the men - holding numerous meetings with each man and often working through weekends. He has almost totally given over his practice to the management of this case. No later than this morning the State refused to pay for legal services - it is tantamount to the State trying to scupper the trial because it is obvious the State's case if falling apart. It if not fair on the men and their families as they will have to put their lives on hold again because of the decision of the State not to pay their legal representative.
"So far the case has cost the taxpayer between three and four million euro - and this is an attempt by the State to deprive these men of adequate legal services. If Mr.Devane is forced to withdraw at this stage it will be a serere blow to the defence - it will be a mockery of justice. There is no justification for the action of the State: it is tantamount to perverting the course of justice. We are now calling on the State to ensure that Mr.Devane is paid in full forthwith."
John O'Shea, Kerry Republican Sinn Féin
The failure of Kerry County Council to build any new houses for people in the Ballylongford area on the housing list has been condemned by the local branch of Republican Sinn Féin.
RSF spokesman John O'Shea from Ballylongford said that it is a national scandal that countless families are waiting years for the basic right to a home.
"There has been no new houses built in our area for years," he said. "There are now up to 20 families from the village alone waiting for housing.
"There is an obligation on the Council to ensure that the annual house building programme is adequate to meet the needs of the people who cannot afford to build or buy their own homes.
"The fact that no new houses have been build in Ballylongford indicates that North Kerry is being ignored in the allocation of new homes and we are now calling on the Council to carry out an urgent review of the housing needs in our area.
"At a time of severe economic difficulty for most people, the very idea of those on low incomes buying or building a new house is totally beyond their means so the Council has a social responsibility to offer some hope to those on the housing list.
"We are now calling on the Council and the politicians to take urgent action to ensure that the plight of those on the housing list is addressed - we also understand that there is no shortage of suitable land and sites to build on - so the Council has no excuse for not tackling this urgent situation in a quick and imaginative manner."
Des Dalton, Assistant Publicity Officer, Republican Sinn Féin
Commenting on the meeting in Dublin (Tuesday Feb 25) between 26 County Minister for Justice Michael McDowell and the British Six County Direct Ruler, Paul Murphy, is the drafting of yet further draconian legislation aimed at coercing Republicans, Republican Sinn Féin Assistant PRO Des Dalton said: "It only serves to further highlight that the real agenda behind the secterian 'Stormont Agreement' is the bedding down of British Rule in Ireland by means of increased collaboration between the 26 County State and the British in suppressing all opposition to British Rule in Ireland."The presence at the meeting of RUC\PSNI Chief Hugh Orde and 26 County Police Chief Pat Byrne only reinforces this view."
"It is becoming clearer that if the ailing 'Stormont Agreement' is once again patched up the hammer will once more fall on true Irish Republicans who refuse to accept British Rule in Ireland."
Fermanagh Comhairle Ceantair, Republican Sinn Féin
The events of recent days in the Donagh area of Fermanagh are a manifestation of all that is rotten in this police statelet.
The arrival in Donagh on last Thursday morning of literally hundreds of heavily-armed Crown Forces heralded the beginning of what was a three-day siege for the nationalist community and for one Republican family the beginning of days of harassment, intimidation and blatant terrorism at the hands of the RUC.
The unjustified evacuation of homes was all part of the operation to heap punishment on the local community and the arrests of Micky and Mary Lavelle on Thursday night, of Jimmy Lavelle on Friday morning and subsequently the arrest on Saturday morning of their son Emmet during which their other son Michael (Jnr) was viciously set upon by members of the RUC and badly beaten, were all part of their terror tactics. There are many unanswered questions about this blatant attack on this community and in particular this family. What authority can order two teenage children from their home at the ungodly hour of 12 midnight without anywhere for them to go?
What authority allows a terror group like the RUC to smash in the door of this house the following morning and to then conduct a "search" without the knowledge, consent or most importantly the presence of any family member or independent observer? Why this particular tactic? Was it to allow them to plant the alleged incriminating evidence?
We are in no doubt that the subsequent trumped up charges that have been laid against Mary Lavelle, a mother of eight children, and her husband. Michael and his son Emmet are politically motivated. We find it extraordinary that local SDLP councillor Fergus McQuillan, who generally has a lot to say on most matters, was, throughout the three days of the siege conspicuous by his absence on the ground and has to date remained absolutely silent on the terror tactics employed by the RUC. Is his membership of the local RUC liaison board a barrier to defending the community he seeks his votes from?
What we have seen in the past number of days is the so-called new police service in action, uniform may have changed, name may have changed but it is still the same RUC, the same anti-catholic, anti-nationalist terror group that it always was and will continue to be.
We call upon the good nationalist people to reject and to shun this politically directed police service and we appeal to the nationalist people to fully support the Lavelle family who are just the latest victims of state terror tactics.
Ruairí Ó Brádaigh, President, Republican Sinn Féin
Republican Sinn Féin deplores the deportation of veteran Civil Rights campaigner Bernadette McAliskey from the United States at the weekend.
For over 35 years Ms McAliskey has struggled for human and civil rights. The action of the US Administration in denying her freedom of speech and access to the Irish American community and the American people in general is a shame and a disgrace and should be exposed publicly as such.
For many years now, Irish Republicans have been refused admission to the US. Since 1974, the President of Republican Sinn Féin has been in that category. Others have included Des Long, Vice-President and Joe O’Neill, National Treasurer.
This has meant that the ÉIRE NUA programme for a new four-province Federal Ireland, with maximum devolution to local level, cannot be advocated in the United States as an alternative to the Stormont Agreement of 1998.
Now Bernadette McAliskey, articulate and courageous spokesperson for Irish national and civil rights, has been excluded also. Will those on both sides of the Atlantic who profess to espouse freedom of speech, now come out in support of her?
Republican Sinn Féin wishes her well in her fight to vindicate her basic human rights. Ádh mór ort, a Bhernadette.
