British TV Comedy Has Lost its Class Sat Nov 22, 2025 17:00 | Finlay McLaren
The BBC's Director of Comedy wants to "save the sitcom". But the sitcom is only endangered because most of them stopped being funny. As To the Manor Born reminds us, British comedy has lost its class, says Finlay McLaren.

Is the Era of Cheap Internet Surveys Over? Sat Nov 22, 2025 15:00 | Noah Carl
Is the era of cheap internet surveys over? A new paper demonstrates that AIs can now be "trivially programmed" to answer online surveys in ways that are essentially indistinguishable from humans.

Thank Lockdowns for the Worst Budget in History Sat Nov 22, 2025 13:00 | Will Jones
We're a week away from the most painful Budget in history thanks largely to the eye-watering cost of lockdown. Yet Baroness Hallett says next time the Government must be ready to go harder and faster. This is insanity.

Taxpayers Are Charged for the BBC Whether They Like it or Not Sat Nov 22, 2025 11:00 | Charlotte Gill
It's bad enough that all UK TV users are forced to fund the BBC via a TV licence. But it's worse than that, says Charlotte Gill: millions of pounds of taxpayers' money are handed to the corporation via backdoor channels.

CPS Appeals Against Acquittal of Hamit Coskun for Burning Quran Sat Nov 22, 2025 09:00 | Will Jones
The Crown Prosecution Service is appealing against the acquittal of Hamit Coskun, who was convicted of burning the Quran in a protest, reigniting fears Britain could introduce blasphemy laws by the back door.

Jump To Comment: 6 5 4 3 2 1This story was posted yesterday under the headlne; Bloody Sunday veteran leads Iraq invasion force. Killing innocent Irish people qualifies him for the job.
Ireland, historically, has served as the training ground for imperialism. This was true of the US 'low intensity conflict' in Central and South America which was first used in Ireland by the British.
LONDON (Reuters) - Americans often refer to the latest conflict in Iraq as the second Gulf war. For their British allies, however, it is at least the fourth.
Cemeteries in both Baghdad and the southern port city of Basra contain graves of thousands of British soldiers killed trying to occupy the country or subdue its population during the last century.
From World War One, through the Nazi era to the 1991 Gulf War, the British have seldom been far away when the major decisions have been taken on Iraq's future.
They invaded the country during World War One, ruled it by mandate in the 1920s and were back again during World War Two to wrestle back power from a pro-Nazi Iraqi regime.
Don't be so quick to dump on the poor Titmouse guy - from some of his other postings I had the impression he is an Irish-Canadian ...
What he obviously meant to say was "Breslin uncovers Bloody Sunday background of British Officer involved in Iraq War" ....
I think that's clear enough even if the title was a bit clumsy - let's not get carried away splitting hairs there are more important things to do right now ....
Of course the story is not all that surprising, a top brass who "distinguished" himself carrying out British ruling class policy in Ulster 30 odd years ago is a safe pair of hands who can be trusted with current missions elsewhere ...
After all British involvement in Iraq goes back a long way ....

Perhaps, it should have read "J.B. Discovers* Iraq Link to Bloody Sunday and Brings It to the Attention of the American People." I thought that was too verbose.
*As in " it has been brought to his attention."
Most of the US (and UK) media has simply caved into Bush and his C.R.A.P. (Cheney-Rumsfeld-Ashcroft-Powell) and started repeating the party line: "We support the troops. God bless America."
And believe me we know that already around here - Ask Eamonn McCann about it if you don't believe Me - 'Ulster Says No' again but this time for reasons that are uniting and cementing the peace process. Good on You McCann - A good Man for the hard road of Civil Rights for All
Kevin Myres loves the war but will not criticise the editorials in the paper he works for - Why?
Is it ok to criticise Journalists Gently?
Well Eamonn Dunphy was a test case and the only thing he lost was his drivers liscence (for a decade?)
Some young RTS Sober individual should present him with a longboard.
