This is a public interest story about a complete failure of governance and management at UCC.

offsite link Deliberate Design Flaw In ChatGPT-5 Sun Aug 17, 2025 08:04 | Mind Agent
Socratic Dialog Between ChatGPT-5 and Mind Agent Reveals Fatal and Deliberate 'Design by Construction' Flaw
This design flaw in ChatGPT-5's default epistemic mode subverts what the much touted ChatGPT-5 can do... so long as the flaw is not tickled, any usage should be fine---The epistemological question is: how would anyone in the public, includes you reading this (since no one is all knowing), in an unfamiliar domain know whether or not the flaw has been tickled when seeking information or understanding of a domain without prior knowledge of that domain???!

This analysis is a pretty unique and significant contribution to the space of empirical evaluation of LLMs that exist in AI public world... at least thus far, as far as I am aware! For what it's worth--as if anyone in the ChatGPT universe cares as they pile up on using the "PhD level scholar in your pocket".

According to GPT-5, and according to my tests, this flaw exists in all LLMs... What is revealing is the deduction GPT-5 made: Why ?design choice? starts looking like ?deliberate flaw?.

People are paying $200 a month to not just ChatGPT, but all major LLMs have similar Pro pricing! I bet they, like the normal user of free ChatGPT, stay in LLM's default mode where the flaw manifests itself. As it did in this evaluation.

Evaluating Semantic Reasoning Capability of AI Chatbot on Ontologically Deep Abstract (bias neutral) Thought
I have been evaluating AI Chatbot agents for their epistemic limits over the past two months, and have tested all major AI Agents, ChatGPT, Grok, Claude, Perplexity, and DeepSeek, for their epistemic limits and their negative impact as information gate-keepers.... Today I decided to test for how AI could be the boon for humanity in other positive areas, such as in completely abstract realms, such as metaphysical thought. Meaning, I wanted to test the LLMs for Positives beyond what most researchers benchmark these for, or have expressed in the approx. 2500 Turing tests in Humanity?s Last Exam.. And I chose as my first candidate, Google DeepMind's Gemini as I had not evaluated it before on anything.

offsite link Israeli Human Rights Group B'Tselem finally Admits It is Genocide releasing Our Genocide report Fri Aug 01, 2025 23:54 | 1 of indy
We have all known it for over 2 years that it is a genocide in Gaza
Israeli human rights group B'Tselem has finally admitted what everyone else outside Israel has known for two years is that the Israeli state is carrying out a genocide in Gaza

Western governments like the USA are complicit in it as they have been supplying the huge bombs and missiles used by Israel and dropped on innocent civilians in Gaza. One phone call from the USA regime could have ended it at any point. However many other countries are complicity with their tacit approval and neighboring Arab countries have been pretty spinless too in their support

With the release of this report titled: Our Genocide -there is a good chance this will make it okay for more people within Israel itself to speak out and do something about it despite the fact that many there are actually in support of the Gaza

This story is unverified but it is very instructive of what will happen when cash is removed
THIS STORY IS UNVERIFIED BUT PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO OR READ THE TRANSCRIPT AS IT GIVES AN VERY GOOD IDEA OF WHAT A CASHLESS SOCIETY WILL LOOK LIKE. And it ain't pretty

A single video report has come out of China claiming China's biggest cities are now cashless, not by choice, but by force. The report goes on to claim ATMs have gone dark, vaults are being emptied. And overnight (July 20 into 21), the digital yuan is the only currency allowed.

The BBC's Director of Comedy wants to "save the sitcom". But the sitcom is only endangered because most of them stopped being funny. As To the Manor Born reminds us, British comedy has lost its class, says Finlay McLaren.

Interesting coverage of the War

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Sunday March 23, 2003 17:10author by media watcher Report this post to the editors

If you have satellite TV check out the coverage on Euronews (TG4 has Euronews sometimes, maybe RTE 1 does early in the morning too?) Different footage than other channels - just showed 5 mins of police firing rubber bullets and beating protestors in Madrid last night. Not likely to see it anywhere else I think

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraqi television showed film on Sunday of at least four bodies, said to be U.S. soldiers, and five prisoners who said they were American.
Two of the prisoners, including a woman, appeared to be wounded. One was lying on the floor on a rug.

They were the first U.S. prisoners known to have been taken by Iraq. The prisoners were questioned on air and gave their names, military identification numbers and home towns.

The bodies and prisoners were shown on Iraqi television, relayed by Al-Jazeera, which said the dead and wounded came from a battle near the southern Iraqi city of Nassiriya, where U.S. Marines are fighting for control.

The first prisoner shown gave his name as Miller and said he was from Kansas.

Asked why he had come to Iraq he replied: "Because I was told to come here. I was just under orders. I was told to shoot -- only if I'm shot at. I don't want to kill anybody."

Earlier, Iraqi Vice President Taha Yassin Ramadan said that enemy soldiers captured at the southern town of Souq al-Shuyukh near Nassiriya would soon be shown on state television.

General Richard Myers, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, told ABC television some Americans -- fewer than 10 -- were missing in southern Iraq.

Souq al-Shuyukh is southeast of the southern Iraqi city of Nassiriya, where U.S. Marines have reported resistance on their northward sweep from Kuwait.

Well you know Jim, poor ole Rummy-Dummy's words might carry a little more weight in the world at large if the good old USA didn't shit contemptuously on every single piece of international law when it suits its own interests ...

It may go down with the home audience he is playing to but I'm afraid he'll have to do better than that elsewhere .....

Poor old Uncle Sam has finally let its mask slip and Rummy's little crocodile tears routine isn't going to fool anyone with an ounce of grey matter in their skull ....

As you said yourself: Guantanamo

DOHA, March 23 (IslamOnlione.net & News Agencies) – Appearing on Al-Jazeera satellite TV channel, an Iraqi commander near the southern city of Basra said Sunday, March 23, that his division, which Washington earlier claimed had surrendered, would continue to resist U.S. and British forces.

"I am with my men in Basra, we continue to defend the people and riches of the town," Colonel Khaled al-Hashemi, commander of the 51st Mechanized Division, Agence France-Presse (AFP) quoted the satellite television channel Al-Jazeera as saying.

"We have made sacrifices within the division to defend our sacred places and our honor," he said without giving any other details.

The Pentagon claimed Friday, March 21, his division had surrendered to coalition forces, the first division-sized unit to do so since the start of a U.S.-led ground offensive. Baghdad immediately denied the claim.

Hashemi accused Washington of lying, saying it was part of the psychological warfare being put out by enemy forces.

No Chemical Weapons Yet: Myers

Meanwhile, U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Richard Myers said Sunday that his forces have not found banned chemical, biological or nuclear weapons so far during their incursion into Iraq.

"To my knowledge, we have not," Myers told ABC television.

Also don't forget that the American media has done exactly the same with Iraqi POWs in the present campaign.

"However, Fox News filled the airwaves on Saturday showing Iraqi POWs, up close and looking humiliated. Military handlers guided the camera crew through the groups of POWs.

Geneva Convention article 13 forbids the displaying of POWs for the purposes of "public curiosity," exactly what Fox News did on Saturday. One wonders whether their will be equal prosecution of this violation for both sides."

But I forgot, the US is not bound by the Geneva Convention ..... or indeed by any body of international law ...... only the other suckers are supposed to play by the rule book ...

The S. Tribune this morning has some good articles and editorial against the war. however muc of the text of the front page and inside in neutered due to the ridiclous headline which screams "BASRA FALLS TO ALLIES"

This headline is jingoism, and also incorrect, at best and ruins the otherwise excellent coverage in the paper.

I am off now to the newsagents to see if i can bum a topped copy of the Sindo from them. I suppose the BOC, Harris and Fannings are wrting their usual shite today.

On a another note I think the rte news coverge has been the most balanced to date, but who authorised this Irish army officer (in full uniform) is wrong as it reinformces the view that we are part of this bogus coalition.

Notice that BBC coverage is getting slightly more critical, although those embedded journalists are anything but objective even after this short period of time.

And still awaiting for the pictures of the 'liberators' been welcomed by Iraqis!!!

the military guy is useless - if you look at him, answering every question, he appears to be reading from a script. which leads me to believe that all his questions are scripted too - by whom?

but to be fair to him, today he did commend the Iraqi troops on their bravery in face of the onslaught. i could just imagine the cringes in the editorial room.

and word of helpful advice, the moustache has got to go
