British TV Comedy Has Lost its Class Sat Nov 22, 2025 17:00 | Finlay McLaren
The BBC's Director of Comedy wants to "save the sitcom". But the sitcom is only endangered because most of them stopped being funny. As To the Manor Born reminds us, British comedy has lost its class, says Finlay McLaren.

Thank Lockdowns for the Worst Budget in History Sat Nov 22, 2025 13:00 | Will Jones
We're a week away from the most painful Budget in history thanks largely to the eye-watering cost of lockdown. Yet Baroness Hallett says next time the Government must be ready to go harder and faster. This is insanity.

Taxpayers Are Charged for the BBC Whether They Like it or Not Sat Nov 22, 2025 11:00 | Charlotte Gill
It's bad enough that all UK TV users are forced to fund the BBC via a TV licence. But it's worse than that, says Charlotte Gill: millions of pounds of taxpayers' money are handed to the corporation via backdoor channels.

Get a job instead, raise a family, live a happy life. America is defending your freedom to do so, be thankful. It's a dangerous, brutal world out there.
... whose lives are so miserable that half of them are addicted to cocaine and heroin and the other half are on Prozac, while they need Viagra to enable them to create families. And you want other people to live like that? No thanks.

Why do we get unfounded cheap comments like the one above? Ignorance, immaturity, egoism etc?... Take your pick. America is not defending anyone's freedom. It is defending it's own power and freedom (for the elite) to do just about anything they want to control and dominate the world's people and resources. Killing lots of people has never stopped them before. What will stop them is that they will become a victim of their own greed and lust for control: they will be devoured by their own demon. It's happening already. It's the natural course, the only way that it will end. The current protests and awareness that it generates will facilitate more the general mass's ability to see through the fog of propaganda and see the scam for what it is, i.e. US/UK power and control and how this manipulates and controls just about everyone on the planet in some way or other. Not to believe this is simply not to see it. Sure, you can go and bury your head in the sand and pretend that all is well. Just don't be surprised when you don't even have a job, or freedom, or a life (like most people in the world). And it is a brutal world alright. But it's also a beautiful and compassionate one too. A lot of people that are out protesting know this, and try to make a difference so the latter has a chance win out in the end. Is that such a bad legacy to leave for our children and the future of humanity?
Thanks for loving my country so much Josef!
Why don't you come on over and help out!
I am sure there are plenty of little girls left that you can disembowel for freedom.
Like you said Josef, it's a dirty job.
I hope to emigrate to Amerikay, some day, I like to buy clothes like out of saturday night fever, and line dance. Its my only sins, that and my lurve of lickle biddy children. I think the Rev william McCrea is an awful righteous holy man, I loved his gospel sing a long with Billy Wright and Mark fulton. The holy bible tells us we must lurve the lorddd, by putting the infidellles and heathen roman papists to the sword of holy righteous jaysus christ, Kkkhrist keep George dumbwa bush safe, in his ranch/mansion/nuclear bunker tonight, please help him win this war, so that I can afford to run my holy pickkk up truck. Please help him win this war, so we can get some more oil, looord halleluyaah.
Plane-spotting at Shannon is a profoundly anti-imperial act. However, defeating Anglo-American imperialism in Ireland might have more effect.
You know you won't get to the ranch of Jaysus kkrist in Golden Amerikay by blaspheming George dumbwar Bush and his holy kkkrusaders. The loorrd Jaysis kkkrist towld me to go and shoot them thar catolic roman papist sinners. By the holy hand of God and Billy wright I smote down them thar papists sinning evil doers.
How disappointing that a serious and urgent request for practical help is answered by another load of slagging each other off. If you have anything constructive or practical to say about the peace camp or plane-spotting or how we can help Ed Horgan with his case, it would be great to read it here. Thanks.
unlike the swp, sf and the labour party, they know that a few marches have no chance of stopping the war.
"Idiots. Do you think you protesters have ever made the slightest bit of difference to anytihng."
YES!!!!
IMHO, if it wasn't for protestors, then civilians would never be getting the (relatively) good treatment they are. It is in response to the protestors that Bush & Blair are putting so much enthusiasm into the rebuilding and aid, and care into who is and who isn't killed. Basically the war would have been even more brutal than it actually is.
Without the protestors, Iraq could end up like The Land That Bush Forgot. (Afghanistan)
Protestors didn't stop the war, granted, but what they achieved was very significant anyway.
BTW I don't agree with ending the war, now that they've started. To go home now would be even more disastrous for Iraq than the war itself.
