Is the era of cheap internet surveys over? A new paper demonstrates that AIs can now be "trivially programmed" to answer online surveys in ways that are essentially indistinguishable from humans.

We're a week away from the most painful Budget in history thanks largely to the eye-watering cost of lockdown. Yet Baroness Hallett says next time the Government must be ready to go harder and faster. This is insanity.

It's bad enough that all UK TV users are forced to fund the BBC via a TV licence. But it's worse than that, says Charlotte Gill: millions of pounds of taxpayers' money are handed to the corporation via backdoor channels.

Noise 4 Choice!

category dublin | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Saturday November 08, 2003 17:39author by Niavauthor email niavk at yahoo dot co dot uk Report this post to the editors

NOISE 4 CHOICE - Pro-Choice Demonstration organised by Alliance For Choice to take place on Wednesday 26th November at the Dail at 6pm.

NOISE 4 CHOICE!

2003 marks the 20th Anniversary of the 1983 Referendum. The 8th Ammendment meant that "The State acknowledges the right to life of the unborn and, with due regard to the equal right to life of the mother, guarantees in its laws to respect, and as far as practicable, by its
laws to defend and vindicate that right". Basically this equates the life of a woman with an embryo!

In order to voice our disgust at the 1983 Referendum the Alliance For Choice have called for a day of Noise For Choice! Bring pots, pans, whistles, drums, guitars etc.. and make some noise! We will also visually highlight the fact that 19 women travel to the UK every day by placing 19 pairs of shoes outside the Dail. The Irish government shows utter contempt for Irish women by denying the option of abortion to victims of rape, to women who have suffered incest or sexual abuse, or whose life or health is at risk from continuing a pregnancy. Over 7000 women travelled to the UK for an abortion. It's time for the government to face up to reality and provide abortion services for Irish women.

Alliance For Choice is a diverse group of pro-choice activists that are campaigning for free safe legal abortion in Ireland. AFC recently held a press conference to publicly launch a collection of short articles by people who were active in the 1983 Referendum campaign and who have been active in pro-choice politics since then. Youth Defense attempted to break this conference up. More info at

You were an embryo once too. Abortion is murder for the sake of convenience.

I can't make it to Dublin for the day, but maybe someone could also bring along another 19 pairs of shoes to remember the 19 lives which travel to Britain but don't make it back.

Firstly, abortion is not murder for the sake of convenience! The choice to terminate a pregnancy is a very difficult and emotional decision for any woman to make. To comment that abortion is convenient is a completely ignorant statement to make especially in Ireland. First of all, information on abortion is only legally obtainable by women through face-to-face counselling. Upon receiving information about abortion clinics, women then face the next task of raising the money for a termination (approximately 900 euros). Then there is the stress of booking accommodation, travelling etc… Many women have to make this journey alone. This is definitely not a convenient process! The thought that human life begins at conception is a religious and philosophical belief and this is not a biological fact. Between January 1980 and December 2001, at least 98,565 Irish women had abortions in Britain. In 2002, a total of 6,490 women gave Irish addresses in clinics in the UK. 19 pairs of shoes will be placed outside the entrance to the Dail to highlight this journey made by 19 women everyday to the UK to terminate an unwanted pregnancy. Whether you are aware of it or not, most people know someone who has had an abortion. Women in this country in a crisis pregnancy situation should have the right to choose. The choice to continue with a pregnancy, the choice of adoption and the choice to terminate a pregnancy. The Noise 4 Choice event (November 26th 6 pm Dail) is a pro-choice event, not a pro-abortion or anti-life event! I am not a baby killer or a murderer or any other of the nasty names you choose to describe people that believe in reproductive rights for Irish women.

Is the pill murder?
Is every sperm sacred?
Is cutting your hair murder?
Is killing a few cells murder?
Is cutting your toenails murder?
Is abortion happening in Ireland?
Do Irish people have abortions?

Don't mistake a couple of cells with a -1 month old human life.

Don't think people having abortions are blasee about it.

Don't mistake a health issue with a moral one.

{THINK! - contraception/legalising homosexuality/legalising divorce}.

No doubt the most regressive voices in our society, and the single biggest force/2nd biggest force will do their best to keep the sham democracy/health system in the state it is.

Valley Girl-have a think.
