Taxpayers Are Charged for the BBC Whether They Like it or Not Sat Nov 22, 2025 11:00 | Charlotte Gill
It's bad enough that all UK TV users are forced to fund the BBC via a TV licence. But it's worse than that, says Charlotte Gill: millions of pounds of taxpayers' money are handed to the corporation via backdoor channels.

World Kindness Day may have passed you by. But it won't have passed by your children, whose school will have been sure to teach that climate action and open borders are essential elements of 'kindness', says Steven Tucker.

What Happened When Extinction Rebellion Had a Taste of its Own Medicine Fri Nov 21, 2025 17:00 | Anonymous
Read what happened when an Extinction Rebellion meeting was disrupted by a protester. Seems they can give it out but have no intention of putting up with it themselves.

We can only hope.
(sorry)
wouldn't trust him with "quiet".
no !quiet man! mike.
Not much of a mick either I wager.
Ireland at the birth of the Celtic Tiger which thanks to the fan club will continue to forge the living consciousness of the nation, (as long as they own all the shares and do the TV) bought an aircraft.
Faster, better, tippier toppier,
just like the Saudi.
And when they filled out the order,
forget to tick the "microwave" box.
Please, oh please, if any of you
Oireachtas social assembly / collective
ever get the job of ordering aircraft for the state again, make sure the little rascals get thier microwave.
They were so upset to see one of the most expensive aircraft in modern aviation and the commercial fleet arrive in Ireland without a microwave.
They huffed and the puffed and in the years before I had to forge a whiskery tasting certificate to look for a job, they sent the aircraft back.
Oh well,
As hank would tell you, ERF came into the equation.
Every little bit of that aircraft had to be taken apart and proofed against ERF and put back together again. "with all the little screws".
And it cost buckets and buckets, nay sure wheelbarrows of cash to do.
As you walk through Dublin these days , and look around you, thinking of Europe of the 25 states, give a short thought to the real living conditions and shops and aesthetics and entertainment options of that Europe of 25 states.
Then go find a map of your new Europe, throw a pin in it, like a womble seeking it's name, and think:-
Is that a tourist resort?
Welcome to the XXI century.
It has been sloppy.
Could someone from Sinn Fein tell us what the Irish people are going to do for a living if they ever come to power? If that ever happened (god forbid), every foreign-owned company in Ireland would be gone by midnight and a lot of Irish-owned ones too. Does Sinn Fein have a research department investigating what alternative industries a Sinn Fein government would set up to replace them with. If so, can we see the results of this research? Is it going to be employment in baseball bat manufacturing? or knitting balaclavas? or producing drills for kneecaps? And can Sinn Fein tell us what hospital waiting lists would be in Ireland under a Sinn Fein government. When Sinn Fein ran the Northern Ireland health service, hospital waiting-lists went thru the roof. They reached 59,000, compared with 27,000 in the Republic of Ireland, with twice the population.
its our gobshite freind back from Fianna Fail. Morning wanker. Don't you ever get bored with the same old drival.
Why don't you answer the questions asked. If you are unable to do so, just say that you can't and I'll desist from asking you. No point in trying to get blood from a stone. Sorry for using the word 'blood' to a Sinn Feiner, it might be a touchy subject. If you wish to respond to serious questions with moronic abuse, try and at least spell it properly. You have more spelling errors in a one-line answer than I have ever seen here. If you wish to come to power, you'll need to brush up your act and try to at least appear intelligent.
The assembly has no tax raising powers. Why have waiting lists not disappeared, where are the guards. Where is the legislation for the disabled? Where is the 200euro pension for the old?
Claptrap! Funding of the NI health service in 2002 was on a par with that in the ROI - its since increased much more in ROI. Its not just resources, but how resources are used. The bottom line is that in 2002 DeBruin had the same resources available as in the ROI, but still ended up with waiting-lists 4.5 times as long as in the ROI. She knew the resources available when she took over, so why did she not keep her promise to bring waiting-lists down to 48,000 (even that target would have been far worse than in the ROI)?
Here's an interesting item from BBC News website - 7 March 2002:
"Northern Ireland's hospital waiting lists have once again hit an all-time high. "
"Last March, Sinn Fein Health Minister Bairbre de Brun said she would have the hospital queue down to 48,000 by this month. "
"But the latest figures, released on Thursday, show that by the end of December, the
queue had actually lengthened to nearly 58,000. "
If Michael Martin achieved that performance, you'd go ballistic. Are there any socialists from NI on this web site, as distinct from nationalists, who are willing to say DeBruin did a good job?
