Fintown Environment Group welcomes An Bord Pleanala's decision to ask Donegal County Council  for clarification on a number of points, including the renovations which would be carried out on the R250 approach route to the proposed Dump and the elevation of the site. More significantly they have asked what would be the visual impact from nearby Glenveigh National Park?
The County Council has two months to respond and must then publish its proposals for public scrutiny when locals can raise their concerns once more.
Meenabpoll is an elevated townland with tributaries of the Rivers Finn and Lennon running through it as well as drainage to the local water supply at Lough Gartan. The proposed landfill would be situated in clear view of Errigal and Glenveigh National Park by day and night and, while the Bluestack Mountains are not part of the National Park, the landfill would be visible from these peaks  which are favoured by walkers from Donegal and all over the world.
A number of environmental groups in the area are challenging the Council's proposals.
