Support from members of the driving public at previous protests has been nothing short of phenomenal and we know similar actions have been taken in other parts of the country and are planned in the days and weeks to come by comrades in Sinn Fein and other people outraged by the treatment of Philip and Vincent McGrath, Willie Corduff, James P Philbin and Michael Seighin at the hands of Shell and Statoil."

I seen a SF run demo against Shell in Palmerstown today, fair play to SF.Keep the presure on Shell, they can't get away with this.
We had a good little protest outside the Statoil station on the Cabra Road today independently of Sinn Féin. There weren't enough of us to occupy it. :)
As it's nigh impossible to compete independently in so many commercial and industrial sectors, 230 of Statoil's 300 service stations in Ireland are franchises owned and operated by 'independent' individuals.
I appreciate that these franchisees have in doing business with Statoil aligned themselves with the company's operations in general, but I think it's worth remembering that they are involved only indirectly. I realise that hitting a corporation in the pocket is where it hurts most but in picketing and boycotting franchisees' stations we may be doing more relative harm to the little man than the Ubercorp. Maybe Statoil ASA's headquarters in the IFSC would be a more appropriate point at which to air grievances of this nature.
Left before the jailings took place and had been organising leaving for a long time before. It'd be very gadfly and reactionary to have suddenly dropped everything while in Scotland and come back after being there a matter of hours. Instead they organised a large protest outside the Irish embassy in Edinburgh, so no sniping please. See link below for pictures and details:
But I commend their youth members for taking this stand against the theft of Irish resources . There have been a number of these posts now saying Sinn Fein ( and Id presume all Irish republicans) shouldnt be allowed to protest on this national issue .
I cant believe this mentality is still in existence in this day and age . Sinn Fein as well as any other republican has every right to protest about this and shame on anyone who would attempt to marginalise or silence anyone because they are republican in outlook .
As for the nonsense about Sinn Fein blowing up the pipeline that is absolutely ridiculous . Personally Id be more worried about Gerry and Martin sticking a fat brown envelope in their back pockets a la Ray Burke and telling their activists to go home .
Leaving that aside the concerns of their youth activists on this issue seems to be genuine so fair play to them .
the post you are commenting on has nothing to do with the london bombings. If you want to know what SF are saying or not saying go to their press room at www.sinnfein.ie
More gravedancing and political pointscoring at the expense of dead civilians - lovely.
do sinn fein support or condem the london bombings, I Mean the ones that when off yesterday not the ones Sinn Fein/IRA planted over the last 30 years. Death and injury by Bombs isnt any nicer when a Sinn Fein Man or woman blows you up, I wouldnt let sinn fein get involved in the Shell situation if I was a local up there as they might just decide to Blow it up some night without telling the locals before hand, and I have a feeling they will then deny it for maybe 20yrs and then admit to it.
Members of DGN and other concerned individuals will picket a Shell station tonight in support of the Rossport 5.
Everyone's welcome to take part. Harold's Cross Bridge @ 5.15.
Some of the 'people in scotland' were back and in attendance at the dublin rally. Others that are in scotland help maintain this site on which sf and other groups can inform others of what they are doing in this campaign at present. When the majority get back I'm sure they will be taking a full part in campaign. It's not either/or it's both/and.
'Why are Sinn Féin jumping on this band wagon?'
Having watched the Corrib/Shell situation for a while - I can tell you that Sinn Féin has not 'jumped on the Band Wagon' recently - they have been on it for a long time. Dail questions have been asked for a long long time and opposition was from the start.
Better question would be, why have so many other groups been late to hitching a right on this Band Wagon? Why did so many run off to Scotland when the 'real action' was here at home?
Why are Sinn Féin jumping on this band wagon? Since when have they had a mandate to defend human rights? Does this not detract from the Rossport cause?

Ogra SF in will tonight hold a picket at the Statoil Garage on the Deansgrange Road, Blackrock, Dun Laoghaire starting at 6.30pm, in solidarity with the imprisoned Mayo farmers known as the Rossport Five and their beleagured community.
This is the third of an ongoing series of actions that have seen gra Shinn F in shut down Statoil garages on Usher’s Quay and on the Northumberland Road within the last week.
A spokesperson for ogra SF in said: “We are aiming to keep up the pressure on Statoil, who own over 36% of the consortium seeking to exploit the Corrib field, tonight. Support from members of the driving public at previous protests has been nothing short of phenomenal and we know similar actions have been taken in other parts of the country and are planned in the days and weeks to come by comrades in Sinn F in and other people outraged by the treatment of Philip and Vincent McGrath, Willie Corduff, James P Philbin and Miche l Seighin at the hands of Shell and Statoil.
