Call For Republican- Socialist Congress

CALLS FOR REPUBLICAN-SOCIALIST CONGRESS

Several people associated with the Irish Anti-Partition League, at home and abroad, have since the P-IRA statement of Thursday afternoon last, called for the "coming together" of all truly anti-imperialist elements in Ireland, so as to discuss the current situation and collectively formulate an agreed way forward. While this is a worthy aspiration, such a gathering would only be possible if agreement in principle was forthcoming from groups such as RSF, the 32 Country Sov. Movement, the Irish Republican Socialist Party et al. There are several independent groups who also oppose the partitionist arrangements enshrined within the Good Friday Agreement, and these should also be embraced so that a broad front of oppositionists can be engaged to formulate the basis of such a Congress.

The IA-PL network is prepared to support such a plan, on the basis that an initial feasibility discussion, between all such groups, becomes a fore-runner for any such Congress. Also, a jointly-agreed statement by all interested groupings, at least an initial draft to take back to their respective rank-and-file, would pave the way, in a positive sense, so that from such an agreed agenda/or joint demands might then emerge.

Any such agenda should have as its final objective, an agreed list of demands on which ALL groups could agree to co-operate in the months and years ahead. This posting arises from the fact that there is real resentment and fear emerging from primarily working-class districts in Belfast and Derry, and the rural townlands.

If this call is ignored, so be it! We have merely communicated the feelings of many at grass-roots level. Those interested in supporting such a project, which should be endorsed, sooner rather than later, are asked to comunicate their opinions to:

ia_pl32@hotmail.com

All individual communications will be treated confidentially, and feed-back to those communicating will also be treated on a one-to-one basis.

Any such Congress can only emerge, if demand emanates from the grass-roots of respective organisations. This appeal therefore is essentially directed to those grass-roots, as respecive "leaderships" are unlikely to move without demands from below.

We look forward to your considerated and mature opinions on such a proposal, which may take several weeks, or months to materialise. The IA-PL will fully support and facilitate such a project.

If this Anti-Partition League exists, it is almost certainly a one-man show. Alternatively, it could be a spook feigning semi-literacy in order to entice genuine republican socialists into showing their hand.

Any serious move to hold a congress would have first involved approaches to the IRSP and, as no such approach has occurred since the LCR mooted it back in the late 1980s, I think we can assume this posting is by a self-important crank or a spook.

Of course, that's not to say that this initiative is particularly well thought out or likely to succeed...

The anti- partition league is indeed a one man show run by an individual whom numerous republican groupings are well aware of . The reason this appeal is being made to grass roots members rather than in a direct approach to any leaderships is simply because no-one will entertain the man for a minute . My advice would be to politely ignore this gentleman .

If the only response that oppositionist republicans can come up with is to engage in a proposed nostalgic revivial of a failed sect of the 1930s, or engage in empty rhetoric about "the war" not being over until the occupation ends, it only serves to confirm that the IRA has made the right calls since 1994.

Deal with reality people.
