"the great only appears great because I am on my knees, I shall arise now Jim"

I think they'd both be happy with the movement, as long as it took and all.

I hope there is not now a rash of articles along the lines of "what we must do now", and instead the common knowledge and sense that this mobilisation was a great victory in itself, and provided over a hundred thousand individuals and many more an opportunity to have a great day, show it, and find common purpose -

"regime change".

TV3 were responsible for the annoying helicopter hovering but did show great shots of the massive turnout.

RTE decided to do a vox pop and managed to dig out a pissed off young D4ina;

"Oive en appointmunt in Blackrock at 2:30 and its ridicolous that I can't get a bus or a taxi"

-Only the selfish suffered on Friday

so someone couldn't go to a medical appointment and thats selfish??

ther ewa snowhere near 150,000 on the streets, thought it was a completely pointless exercise that hasn't changed a single thing in a positive way aside froim make some people feel self important.

Not one job saved because of it.

while many people felt better about themselves and believed they had a go at the government, there is no indication that the march will save any jobs - where companies believe it is in their interests to move jobs out of europe or into the cheaper parts of europe that's what they will do...

could ??? and being helpful be the same person? agreeing with yourself is of little use. the marchs on friday were important as a show of strength by the TU movement.

not a single capitalist politician dares to support irish ferries. if irish ferries try and go into liquidation they will swiftly discover that they have no control over their ships. they wont be able to leave or dock at any unionised port. no judges injunction will change this.

No idea who ??? is and not the same person. Amazing isn't it to have two people who might broadly agree and disagree with the broad party line on this site.

The march was a show of solidarity fair enough but will not stop any relocation of business outside the country....it's a simple point and not difficult to understand.. in any event who was on the march... from the pictures it seems to be many public sector workers who are not affected by any changes.

As regards the ferry company, either they will be successful in what they want or they will go into liquidation. Either way the existing workforce will lose out and they cant stay on the ships forever.

It's true the company has no friends now and no-one now wants anything to do with the company. However if the company collapses and is liquidated then the boats will be sold to a new operator...

who is going to buy the ships when they know they cant be moved and will be subject to an international boycott? neither the company nor any new owners will be able to take possession of these ships. it would really be fun if irish ferries got an injunction and the courts were shown to be impotent. they cant lock us all up.
