If the BBC's Standards Committee, which is reviewing the corporation's coverage of climate change, wants a good example of bias, it should take a look at its report of recent floods in Pakistan, says Paul Homewood.

The Hillsborough Law is well-intentioned, but its effect will be to transfer yet more power from Parliament to unelected judges ? the opposite of what is needed to restore public trust and democratic accountability.

Vegan Prisoners - please write

category international | animal rights | other press author Wednesday July 26, 2006 23:04author by Ciaran Long - Alliance For Animal Rights - www.afarireland.orgauthor email pagan_animal_liberation_front at hotmail dot com Report this post to the editors

Every hunting season it's a regular occurrence for Saboteurs to be beaten up, some murdered, hospitalised, have their transport damaged and their personal belongings stolen by hunters and supporters. It's very seldom that anyone is charged. And if they are it's usually just a slap on the wrist.
But when the table is turned, it's a totally different story.

Natasha Avery, Heather Nicholason and Daniel Wadham (from Stop Huntingdon Life Sciences -SHAC) have been sentenced, for less than what hunters get away with, for an incidence involving a family of fox hunters, which left no fatalities.

Natasha, Heather and Daniel are among the most dedicated activists I've ever had the privilage of knowing.

Natasha and Heather were both sentenced to an 16 months. Heather will be released on August 11th 2006 as her sentence started last year. Natasha's sentence began today.
Daniel is 19 so has been sent to a Youth Offenders Institute at Feltham. He was sentenced to 12 months and his sentence also started today. Youth Offenders Institute has dormitories instead of cells, so Daniel has no privacy.

Natasha Avery said, " I will be more than pleased for you write to me but if you want to know what I really want? Help us to close the Hell Hole that is Huntingdon Life Sciences. Make the phone calls, send the emails and please attend the demos especially during the SHAC UK tour 7th - 11th August. I will be resting, reading, writing and getting fit whilst in here but please please never let up against HLS. Especially as we have just exposed them for the 6th time for animal cruelty. Victory is ours but needs ALL of us to achieve it. Thank you"

Please write to all the prisoners to show your support. Please remember that all mail is opened and read by the prisoner officers so do not write anything that is incriminating
