Growing support for Citizen's Manifesto for Election

Give them something to take home

There is growing support for the idea of a Citizen's Manifesto, as proposed by writer William Wall in his website (www.williamwall.eu).

There is growing support for the idea of a Citizen's Manifesto, as proposed by writer William Wall in his website (www.williamwall.eu). Here is his idea, as he explains it himself:
"I've been wondering for some time what to do when canvassers call to my door. In the past I've found myself engaged in acrimonious arguments with people against whom I bear no personal animosity, perfectly nice people who just happen to represent a party I dislike. Recently the idea came to me: Why not give THEM a leaflet explaining my point of view? As you will see, the attached Citizen's Manifesto (a PDF) expresses my own political position. I attach it merely as a sample and urge you to create your own. On the other hand, you're welcome to just print mine off and hand it out, if it suits. This PDF can also be downloaded from my website. It seems to me to be an active form of citizenship. If you like the idea, please pass it on."
The Manifesto has featured on various political blogs and has been circulated widely by email. The author is asking bloggers to post it, and activists to continue the circulation and to encourage people to either adapt it to reflect their own views or hand it out as is.
Wall says:
"Despite the folksy tone of the email, my hope is that we will circumvent the consensus and, for once, actually give them something to think about - to think that there is a real politics out there/here, and not this pathetic para-politics of competing right-wing game-players. What I'm hoping is that the manifesto will empower people to tell the parties what they really think."

What do you do householder, if the canvasser is Mary Harney and she's up for it?

In which case it would be timely to remember it's ok to skull the fucker . One of the dizzy heights our soon to be former minister for justice came up with over the years was a piece of legislation which gives you the householder (but not leaseholder, renter or sitting tenant) the right to kick or beat the crap out of anyone who enters your home with foul intent.

If poker wielding is too physical for you - you could always try the psychological consenting adults approach. At only small cost you can create a pornographic movie set in your hallway, sitting room or other area of your home for the duration of the electioneering season. You don't need much imagination or outlay - some potted plants and a low energy bright light bulb and camcorder on a tripod will do. Now it is important that you realise patience is of the essence. You should put some effort into your "homewear" over the next weeks. Leopard skin knickers or shorts are always a good invsetment and a big bottle of lubricant or jar of vaseline will keep your doors from squeeking like a PD for years to come. When your local politician comes to the door - ask them in of their own consent. Make sure they consent at least three times. Once the door is closed - you can switch on your camcorder and drop your kaks and say "jiggidy jiggeedee" a few times. Then use your imagination.

I don't know why your back button doesn't work, Biker. I use a Mac and it works fine for me. In fact, I can't find a way to replicate your problem. I'm afraid I don't have the knowledge to alter my website to make it possible for you to return. At any rate, apologies for the inconvenience. Please accept that it's unintentional.

I hate pages that stop me using my back button to return to the original place where I saw the link. This is one of them. It's a conspiracy! Once you click on the link you cannot use your back button to come back here.
