offsite link Academics Sign Letter Calling for NATO to Admit Ukraine Thu Aug 01, 2024 11:00 | Noah Carl
158 academics have signed a letter calling for NATO to admit Ukraine. But they don't address the crucial question of when Ukraine should be admitted: now, or once the war is over. Neither option is straightforward.

Green Party Convention 2008

category national | environment | event notice author Thursday March 20, 2008 16:07author by Niall OB - Green Party Report this post to the editors

Fairways Hotel Dundalk 11th -13th April

Anyone going to the Green Party Convention in the Fairways Hotel in Dundalk?

It's on April 11th to 13th. It will be very interesting to see how the media and protest groups treat the Greens now that we have entered Government.

It will also be very interesting to see how our membership feels about progress to date.

Tara is on the agenda, as so are a number of controversial topics, rest assured, it will be a heated debate.

Dear MS. Ferris,

I have been asked by Mr. John Gormley, T.D., Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government to refer to your recent email in connection with Tara.

A further letter on this matter will issue as soon as possible.

Yours sincerely,

A Chara,

I am surprised and disappointed not to have received any acknowledgement even, let alone a reply to my email sent on 22/2/08.

As a public servant myself- a primary teacher- I know that public servants like you and I have a duty to respond to concerns of their public.

So I am resending the email, in quotes below, to give you a fair chance to respond.

'I am writing to you for the second time ever, again to protest against the horrible situation here where I was born, reared, and hope to continue to live.

I live at Dowdstown Garlow Cross Navan Co Meath. Our local area is destroyed- Soldiers Hill , Dalgan Park, Skryne, Lismullin, Baronstown, Ardsallagh.

Those names mean nothing to you but to me they are a litany of loss.

OK, we are just a local community so we do not matter beside the deals that were done, the plans that were made, the brown envelopes and the corruption. However our locality also just happens to be part of the Boyne Valley, in relation to Tara, and full of archaeology. Yet you are destroying it.

How foolish. Just think of the money that could have been made out of it, seeing as this seems to be all that matters.

Don't give me any more excuses about how you couldn't do anything about it, and it was the Minister before you who did the damage!

I ran all over Meath before the election asking people to vote Green because I hoped you would stop this destruction.

Come down and visit, and look at the size of the Blundelstown Interchange, think of all the slip roads and the bridges, the loss of what should have been designated National Monuments, and the Gabhra put under concrete, the lighting, the noise, the severing of locality, community and habitat, and then the colossal scale of this whole sorry mess may begin to be understood by you.

I hope I am not seeming rude to you, but I am very upset and angry to hear again about the sloppy standards and downright deceitfulness of the NRA.

Has nobody any control over these people?'

Mise,

Le Meas,

Brenda Ferris.

judging by the asinine comments above, it should prove to be a very informative and lets hope for the benefit of all, a mature and constructive political session

Is it true that George W. Bush is giving the address in appreciation of the party selling out the antiwar movement in Ireland.
