From Deir Yassin to Gaza - The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine

60 years ago in Palestine, newly-arrived European Jewish settlers drove their long established Palestinian neighbours out of most of Palestine, which then became Israel. They did this through a combination of terror and massacre. Once again Israel is terrorising and massacring Palestinians – this time in Gaza – prompting fears of renewed mass ethnic cleansing.

Deir Yassin was a small village next to Jerusalem. Although its inhabitants hadn't taken part in the fighting to defend Palestine, it was here that the most infamous massacre took place 60 years ago. On the morning of April 9th 1948, Zionist forces drove into the village, rounded up the men, women and children and coldbloodedly massacred them. The massacre was pre-planned and designed to terrorise other Palestinians into fleeing.

Afterwards, twenty five of the survivors were paraded around Jerusalem, then taken to a quarry and murdered. Today this would be called 'collective punishment' – the terrorism of the powerful. Today a million and a half innocent people in Gaza are being collectively punished. They are imprisoned; they are starved of food and water, subjected to aerial bombardment, tank and rocket attacks; denied electricity, medicines, and sewerage facilities.

They are being denied a future. Hundreds have died so far this year. This senseless brutality must stop if there is ever to be peace. Make your voice heard - come to our demonstration and demand that Israel ceases - and the International Community stops being complicit in - the destruction of Gaza. We can't stop yesterday's atrocities; we must prevent today's.

Remember Deir Yassin! Remember the Palestinians in Gaza today!

This is sure to get some attention if it comes to fruition this May.

Let the will of our people to return homeland be victorious.

Let the UN resolutions, international legitimacy, and the international law be victorious.

Let us defeat the cultural of terrorism, racism and denial of the other.

http://www.return08.com/Eng/index.html

In implementation of this, May 14, 2008, marking 60 years of dispossession and homelessness, will be a day for the international community and the Palestinian people to carry out UN Resolution (194). Let us be soldiers to carry out this resolution and thus:

1.All Palestinian refugees inside and abroad have the right to exercise the right of return in a peaceful manner and become UN soldiers of peace.

2.All returnees have to raise the UN banner only.

3.All returnees have to attach UN resolution and the refugee card on their chests.

4.All returnees must bring their tents and other goods with them because most probably their houses had been destroyed and therefore they might be forced to live in tents on their land. If attacked by the discriminatory Israeli security forces that reject international law and legitimacy, we will not attack back but we will set up our tents hoping that our relatives and Jewish friends will assist us in our search for peaceful coexistence which will overcome any racial or inhuman trend.

5.Arab countries have to stress our right for return and we thank them for everything they have done to Palestinian refugees. We call on Arab countries to open their borders before Palestinian refugees and help them return to their homeland. Here we specifically name the countries of Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, and Iraq.

6.All Palestinians in Arab and Islamic countries must go to any of the ring countries to exercise this peaceful march in application to their individual right of return.

7.Arab countries and friends all over the world are called upon to support the logistics of exercising this right.

8.All Palestinians holders of foreign citizenships, especially US and European citizenships, are called upon to book for their return at the Israeli airport or ring countries on May 14 , 2008. Charter planes could be booked to ensure their safe arrival. In addition, tens of ships can be reserved to take them from international seaports provided that all bookings take place on the same date.

9.A personal invitation will be extended to all world leaders and members of all parliaments in the name of Palestinian refugees to support their humanitarian movement.

10.An invitation will be extended to all civil society institutions and their legal commissions.

11.An invitation will be extended to all judges and international legal advisors and attorneys.

12.An invitation will be extended to UN Secretary-General and international ambassadors.

13.Kings and leaders of Islamic countries will be invited.

14.Journalists and reporters will be invited to cover the event.

15.The Israeli government, members of the Israeli Knesset, and parties who advocate justice and peace will be invited.

16.A special invitation will be extended to the US President, senators, civil society institutions, and urge them to resist all racists and extremists who reject the right of return.

17.Arab and international artists will be invited to participate in the event.

18.The Palestinians pledge before the world to exercise the international resolution out of their belief in mutual coexistence and rejection of violence, terrorism and bigotry.

Sorry , but I dont understand. how are the returnees supposed to get into Israel once they arrive ?

How are those who intend to fly into Tel Aviv supposed to get Visas? I presume you need a visa to go to Israel ?

Israel isnt going to let all these people in to threaten them , egypt and Jordan arent going to let them upset their comortable arangement with the US .

And the UN in Lebanon arent goint to permit them passage to the mine infested southern lebanon.

Hows it gonna work ?

It is crazy that we allow our politicians to rope our countries into agreements , then subsequently grant them immunity from criticism or censure when the party that thay made an agreement with completely throws muck in our faces. We have a right to expect to see the Israel Europe agreement torn up and thrown away.
How many of us have enjoyed Mediterranean holidays in France, Greece, Spain etc. we would be horrified to see an oil tanker dumping oil of the coast at Cannes yet just across the water Israel can dump oil slicks into the sea with complete impunity.

NOT TO MENTION HOW ISRAEL IS DRAGGING OUR HUMAN RIGHTS PROFILE INTO THE DIRT. We have a right to expect to see Israel thrown out of any agreement and boycotted on an Environmental basis alone.

Below is a snippit of the text of the agreement that Israel is bound to keep by its own volition, in order to enjoy trade in our Europe. Below that are the pictures of the oil contributed by Israel to our Mediterranean Sea for which not a single European eyelid was batted

Tear up this insulting agreement now..

EURO-MEDITERRANEAN AGREEMENT

1. The Parties shall promote cooperation in the tasks of
preventing deterioration of the environment, controlling
pollution and ensuring the rational use of natural resources,
with a view to ensuring sustainable development and
promoting regional environmental projects.
2. Cooperation shall focus, in particular, on:...........

.........the quality of Mediterranean water and the control and
prevention of marine pollution.

Even if we never cared about the Palestinians once, we should take note of what is being done to our European Resources by this Rogue Entity that enjoys such priveleges in Europe.

Jimmy Carter really puts his life on the line to honour democracy.

At last the Palestinian electorate get respect for their democratic choice. X US President Carter is to meet the Hamas Government of the Palestinian people.

http://electronicintifada.net/v2/article9464.shtml

" Carter may not be counted amongst Israel's most stalwart supporters, at least compared to other US presidents or the current candidates for office. But in reality, he has done more for Israel than any other US president, and perhaps even any other world leader. "

----
We all know that Hamas politicians have suffered terribly to get the right to speak for their people. Mahmoud al-Zahar, a surgeon, is a founder of Hamas. He is foreign minister in the government of Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, which was elected in January 2006.

http://electronicintifada.net/v2/article9469.shtml

" Only three months ago I buried my son Hussam, who studied finance at college and wanted to be an accountant; he was killed by an Israeli air strike. In 2003, I buried Khaled -- my first-born -- after an Israeli F-16 targeting me wounded my daughter and my wife and flattened the apartment building where we lived, injuring and killing many of our neighbors. Last year, my son-in-law was killed. "

David R. Skeen – your point above about the oil slick does not convince. We know nothing about how or when or why it happened. Probably it could have happened anywhere even in the best run and regulated ecologically minded jurisdictions.

The conflation of these images with an argument about the EU is just juxtaposed smear stuff – worthy of a poor man’s Dr. Goebbels.
