The Israeli operation used percision guided rockets fired from Apache helicopters, F-16 fighter bombers and unmanned aerial vehicles.
The buildings targetted were Hamas facilities and installations.
The majority of those killed were Hamas terrorists.
The civilian deaths were tragic but inevitable since Hamas uses the Palestinian people as a human shield.

Israel uses a carrot and stick in its approach to Hamas.
The carrot is that if Hamas stops attacking Israel we will not use the stick.

Hamas is rocketing and mortaring Israeli civilians and Israel has retaliated by attacking Hamas while trying to minimise Palestinian civilian deaths.

If Hamas wants to peace with Israel, then it should halt its terrorism against Israeli civilians, recognise the State of Israel and negotiate a solution to the ongiong conflict between Israelis and Palestine.

If it continues to attack Israel then it must face the consequences.

If Hamas continues to attack Israel, then Hamas will be wiped out.

They can take it or leave it.

Israeli civilians will not be terrorised by mortars and rockets.

Israel has the right to defend itself and Israel will defend itself.

The present state of Israel an experiment of 1948 that in it's creation displaced 400,000 arabs from their homeland into refugee camps.

Hardly any wonder that the children of those so displaced want to regain their homeland ?

The gratitude of the Israeli since it's inception has been to murder as many Arabs as possible, in other words to make a pogrom. Something that the survivors of Hitler's concentration camps learnt of at first hand and in so doing lost all trace of their humanity.

This Israel: is a state supported by the worlds greatest terrorist the USA, the liar who invaded Iraq to destroy the Weapons of Mass Destruction and never discovered them, because they the Americans were and are along with the UK the despotic owners of death and destruction. The same liar who invaded Afghanistan to waist the it's own and European flowers of youth in search of a White House myth and to destabilise yet another ancient civilisation.

A couple of points of perspective:
In 2006-7, over six hundred Palestinians were killed by other Palestinians, mostly Fatah at the hands of Hamas, including over 110 killed in 4 days in June 07.

Over 600 Palestinians killed in internal clashes since 2006
Published: 06.06.07

An
estimated 616 Palestinians have been killed in factional fighting since
Hamas defeated Fatah in elections in January 2006, a leading
Palestinian rights group said on Wednesday.

In its annual report, the Palestinian Independent Commission
for Citizens' Rights said 345 Palestinians were killed in factional
fighting in 2006. In the first five months of 2007, another 271
Palestinians were killed. (Reuters)

So what? Jews sometimes kill other Jews (though nowhere near the rate they kill Arabs at), did/does that make it alright for others to kill more of them? What perspective are you purporting to offer?

Shades or our own Civil War -that was the point of my previous posting on this thread --when they murdered fellow Arabs to gain control of Gaza -
remember they threw their Fatah enemies out of windows
Thats the point -Hamas and other fundamentalists the world over developed the art form of suicide bombing .
Hamas have issued statements "teasing " Israel about how they embrace death and others love life .
They knew the way they behaved since 19 Dec they were provoking Israel and they must of felt that they could win the Media War -and their seeming disregard for life shows up again and again in spite of their crocodile tears .
The poor Gazans are suffering because Hamas carried out a coup .
That was the point of pointing out how they had murdered their own brethren in 2006 -2007

Meanwhile if they had stopped the rockets at any time up to 26 Dec -this needless war would not be going on
What do they really want ?
If they dont recognise Israel and murder Fatah supporters who can deal with them ?

The Japanese developed suicide bombing, but no amount of suicide bombing comes close to the relentless savagery of the Israeli bombing to death of tens of thousands of their neighbours over the years. As for "embracing death", if you're fighting an opponent who has a huge advantage in military technology and who is determined to kill 20 or 30 Arabs for every Jew killed, then you had better get used to the idea that death is far more likely for you than for your opponent. Please don't talk to me about provocation or coups: the provocation offered to Palestinians by the Jewish colonists alone is legendary, and Hamas won a fair election even when the threat of huge and disproportionate retribution from the IDF hung over the electorate. The Jews of Palestine can end their security problems in the morning by agreeing to cease defying UN resolutions. If they refuse to obey international law, and the global emperor continues to encourage them to persist in their defiance, who can deal with them?

Look , can we be objective and not abusive to each other ?

Hamas continues to emphasize and promote the religious ideology that
death for Allah is an ideal to be actively pursued.

The goal is to convince Palestinians, including women and children, not to fear death but even to face it at the front to protect Hamas fighters.

Hamas's placing of its military installations and fighters among civilians
reflects this ideology, and one wonders where and when they assemble and build the rockets and missiles and whether this has led to these 51 deaths.

A Hamas representative in the PA legislative council earlier this year expressed
pride in the fact that women and children are used as human shields in
fighting Israel.
He described it as part of a "death industry" at which Palestinians excel, and explained that the Palestinians "desire death" with the same intensity that Israelis "desire life."

The following is the full text of the comments by Hamas representative Fathi
Hamad in Feb 2008

"For the Palestinian people death became an industry, at which women excel
and so do all people on this land: the elderly excel, the Jihad fighters
excel, and the children excel.
Accordingly [Palestinians] created a human shield of women, children, the elderly and the Jihad fighters against the Zionist bombing machine, as if they were saying to the Zionist enemy:
We desire death as you desire life."

Would you care to point out exactly where you believe I was being abusive? I've explained to you already, Sean, that taking on an enemy with overwhelming military superiority requires unorthodox tactics. When the Jews were killing British policemen in 1940s Palestine, did they retreat to easily identifiable military bases? Of course they didn't, they used similar tactics to those Hamas uses today, and for the same reasons. I don't for a minute believe Hamas would use suicide bombers if they had access to bomber jets like the Jews do. But lack of bomber jets has not deterred our plucky fedayeen. Necessity is the mother of invention.

"...Hamas would use suicide bombers if they had access to bomber jets like the Jews do."

Please insert Israelis please. No need to blur the lines and go down a dark road.

Perhaps I should have been clearer:

"...like the Jews of Palestine do."

A pretty dark road into Gaza these days, no? But I take it you get my original point about methods of bomb deployment.
