provos told to stay away from Republican graves in E Tyrone

category tyrone | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Tuesday April 07, 2009 21:16author by no provo - leaning towards RSF Report this post to the editors

they died for Irish freedom, not a sell out

East Tyrone Republicans are finished with Adams and McGuinness

A row between Sinn Fein and the Tyrone National Graves association is set to boil over at Easter Commemorations this Easter weekend

Last Year almost all of the Provo's East Tyrone Brigade left the Provo's and Provisional Sinn Fein leaving Republican Strongholds like Cappagh Galbally and Dungannon with no Sinn Fein Cumann

Almost over night the Tyrone National Graves Association became independant during the rest of 2008 they held a number of Commemorations to remember the 35th annivarsarys of Volunteers from the area the diffrence between these commemorations and past Commemorations was their were no political speaches held at the gravesides instead friends and family spoke about their loved ones it was said at the time that large numbers of Irish Republicans in the county many who had been the backbone of the struggle for the past 30 years had been staying away because of the Provo control of the events and their use of the dead to further their current politics when many in Tyrone were opposed to

Months before the planning for the up coming Easter Commemorations a large number of familys of dead IRA Volunteers approched the Tyrone NGA and said they didnt want the Provos using their loved ones graves as a propaganda tool they said they did not want speaches at the graveside and that they did not want wreaths laid on behalf of an Army that no longer existed

At the next meeting of the Tyrone NGA meeting the provos landed en mase busing in supporters from Armagh and other areas to try and secure control of the Tyrone NGA they failed in this attempt one of their members from the brantry area then tried to intimadate the meeting by reading out a statement from the now defunct P O' Neil stating that the Tyrone NGA was no longer in control of the Commemorations in the county and that Sinn Fein was now to take control of the Commemorations the speaker was told this would not happen as the East Tyrone Brigade was no longer aligned to the Provisional Movement and theirfore the speaker had no right to use the name P O' Neil to try and intimadate people at the meeting the speaker then said he was going to lay the so called Army wreath at Edendork any way to which he was informed by family members of IRA Volunteers buried their that they would remove it by force if nessacary

Then on Sunday the Sunday World carried an article on the controversy and since then the Provo's have now backed down and almost all of the Local Commemorations in East Tyrone will be independant. Republican Sinn Fein, meanwhile, will be holding wreath laying ceremonies at Edendork at the grave of Fian James McCaughey at 10 am on Holy Saturday and at the grave of Frank Ward in Carrickmore at 6pm the same day.

The group mentioned 'Tyrone NGA' is like other similar six county groups a creation of the provos to undermine the old NGA and it is this group - and others who are to follow suit - who are breaking with the partitionist party led by Crown employees Adams/ McGuinness etc etc.

the NGA has as a rule " that Members of the governing body are not allowed by the rules to be a member of any political party". This is not looked on favourably to say the least, by the Provo leadership who want to control everything. It also states that the NGA's guiding principle is "Only a 32 County Irish Republic represents the true aspiration of those who gave their lives for Irish freedom". That alone would put it at odds with the provos. The provos accept partition and even administer British rule in part of Ireland. They are no Republicans by any strech of the imagination though some naive do try to label them such.

its high time the all decent people who still believe in the Republic declared on Easter Week turn their backs on psf in exactly the same manner that they have turned theirs on Republicanism, truth, decency and principles. The list posted above can help us find Easter commemorations that are about those values and certainly not about supporting British rule in reland.

I thought the National Graves Association was very strictly above party politics. That's certainly the case of the main NGA who look after such graves as Wolfe Tone's in Bodenstown and do so without political favouritism whether it's Sinn Féin, Fianna Fáil, Workers Party, RSF, IRSP or anyone else.

They will not criminalise us, rob us of our true identity, steal our individualism, depoliticise us, churn us out as systemised, institutionalised, decent law-abiding robots. Never will they label our liberation struggle as criminal.

Bobby Sands.

Do not be misled by the promises of politicians. Remember that the whole history of Ireland is a record of betrayals by politicians and statesmen, and remembering this, spurn their lying promises and stand up for a United Ireland - an Ireland broad based upon the union of Labour and Nationality.

James Connolly
Irish Worker, April 4, 1914.

The greatest strategic move by the British Forces this week took place, not on the fields of Belgium or France, but on the floor of the House of Commons. In that fortress the forces of the enemy are too firmly entrenched to fear defeat, and therefore their strategic move was crowned with brilliant success. The problem was not how to defeat a nation in arms battling for all that makes life worth living, but how to fool a nation without arms into becoming the accomplice of its oppressor. And the strategic move in question is already being hailed as a great landmark of national progress.

Yes, ruling by fooling, is a great British art – with great Irish fools to practice on.

They all died in vain because all republicans always sell out. That is one of the most important lessons of Irish history, that those engaged in republican politics always eventually sell out the working class.
Irish people should turn their backs on all republicans including the latest batch of sectarian reactionaries, because they will eventually sell you out as well.
Squabble all you want about your graves, the rest of us are more interested in the impact of the budget and losing our jobs!
