Thirty Left-wing MPs have written to Ofcom to press it to censor X under the Online Safety Act. The evidence of 'hate' on the platform is threadbare, but it's obvious why they want to clip its wings, says Laurie Wastell.

Mayday, Aine Ni Chonaill, Seville and Sellafield

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Monday March 11, 2002 19:32author by Joe Carolan - Globalise Resistanceauthor email globalise_resistance at yahoo dot comauthor address The Other World Which is Possibleauthor phone 087 9032281 Report this post to the editors

A Big Thank You- Meeting this Friday 6.30pm NCAD

After Saturday's Evacuation Drill, get involved in the strategy and creativity for Mayday's Anti Capitalist Bloc, the "No Borders, No Frontiers" carnival and campaign against racist Aine Ni Chonaill, developing international links in the struggle to shut Sellafield, and preparing for the next big international mobilisation to Seville, in Spain.

The nuclear meltdown drill last Saturday got the Shut down Sellafield message across to thousands of people on the streets of Dublin last Saturday.
Congratulations and thank you to everyone who was involved! and Check out audio footage of the meltdown on www.indymedia.ie

There was much discussion afterwards about getting together a meeting for all the groups and individuals who have been active against Sellafield, to build for more action on the issue in the future - we have made contact with the Anti-Castor direct action groups in Germany, for example, and it is also time that we engaged British activists too.

At the monthly meeting of Globalise Resistance in Dublin last Tuesday a number of other issues for future activity were discussed.

We agreed to organise an anti-capitalist action around Mayday and to mobilise people from Ireland for the protests against the EU summit in
Seville in June 22nd-23rd. There was also concern that Aine Ni Chonaill of the racist Immigration Control Platform was standing for election in the Dublin South Central constituency, and people thought we should run a vigourous "No Borders, No Frontiers" campaign.

If you are interested in getting involved with the planning for these events let us know as soon as possible. Particularly if you are a member of any other activist group, let us know whether your group would be interested in linking up with us for Mayday and how many people you think would be interested in going to Seville.

Come along to the National College of Art and Design at 7pm this Friday (March 15th) to organise these events in more detail.
