The accommodation only allows for a limited number of residential places and most of these have been booked. Already we have a wide range of socialist and trade union activists registered and the discussion promises to be the most open and wide ranging debate for some considerable time, involving a very extensive spectrum of views and opinions. Saturday 10-30 – 12-30. The Credit Crunch: A Marxist analysis

Introduced by Richard Brenner

Richard Brenner is a leading member of the British group Workers Power and has recently written, with Michael Pröbsting, The Credit Crunch – A Marxist Analysis, applying the Marxist theory of crisis in which he argues that the credit crunch foreshadows a crisis of globalisation.

Saturday 2-30 – 4-30. The economic crisis – can the Irish state recover?

Joe Craig is a member of Socialist Democracy and author of ‘Prisoners of Social partnership’ – an analysis of decades of betrayal by the leadership of the Irish Trade union movement.

Introduced by John McAnulty

John McAnulty proposes an alternative economic programme for the working class and opens discussion on how a new working-class movement can be built. John is a member of Socialist Democracy and a long-standing activist in the trade union movement.
