Feminist Open Forum hosts an International Women’s Day Call to Action

Nation In Crisis: Feminist Perspectives

A day-long conference March 13th, 9.30am-5pm,

Kilbarrack Community Development Project

So far, public discourse on the recession, the Budget, NAMA has been characterised by a remarkable consensus which goes like this: “We have to take the hit – there’s nothing else we can do.”

Feminist Open Forum is making space for the dissenting voice, the alternative economic perspective. Those of us who say enough is enough and want to challenge the dominant way of thinking on social welfare, education, health, employment, migration will meet in Kilbarrack on March 13th to discuss viable alternatives.

Joining us on the day will be Anne Good, National Disability Authority; Cathleen O’Neill, Kilbarrack CDP; Rita Fagan, St Michael’s Estate; Ursula Barry, UCD; Sara Burke, journalist and health policy analyst; Mary Murphy, social economist, NUIM; Orla O’Connor, National Women’s Council head of policy, and many more.

Morning and afternoon panel sessions will be followed by a series of facilitated workshops.

Poet Paula Meehan will close the day with a reading followed by wine and cake to celebrate the power of women to set the stage for a more equal, just society.

Feminist Open Forum believes there is an alternative way to deal with this crisis – join us and contribute to creating it.

No admission fee but donations welcome … Lunch provided ... Creche facilities available.

Booking essential. Contact conference co-ordinator Lisa Dowling at Lisadowling10@gmail.com
