class war in south belfast

The difference between your country bumpkin right wing residents and the residents of the holylands is class, your talking about fuddy duddy professional yuppie residents, the residents of the holylands are not the same as your colloquial country types. The residents association of the holylands has amongst its members ex members of the INLA, UDA, also soft drug dealers, housewifes, pensioners and armed robbers, all of them are working class, and dont mind a bit of partying. It is precisely becos the holyland residents association is left wing and not a snobby and stuffy and welcomes all, that the authorities refuse to curtail private landlord developments in the hope of eventually destroying one of the most unique non discriminatory working class communities in Belfast. There is a battle going on between the holyland residents and slum lord property developers, your defending the students position because you value the patronage of the future professional class ie students as do most hierarchial political parties. But a truely unique society such as that of living socialism which is the tolerant holylands community feel that students have no more of a right to respect than working class prostitutes, students are not speacial and they certainly would not treat their mammys and daddys four wheel drives the way they vandalise the old bangers belonging to the holyland residents. So when students get the fuk beat out of them by housewives of the holylands, please dont go squealing to piggies. Community Restoritive justice will eventually triumph in the holylands.

What do you expect to happen when you take a couple of thousand 18 to 22 year olds and throw them all together for probably the first time they’ve lived away from home? You can’t say this is a class thing, its not just “middle-class yuppie students” that can go for a couple of jars and act like pricks on the way home, as you well know. And as for the idea that it’s the ‘Pig Force of N.I.’ that are shielding “future professionals, pig bosses and DHSS clerks”, I think maybe your residents group would benefit from meeting with residents in Castletroy (adjacent to the University of Limerick) who are the *current* professionals, pig bosses and DHSS clerks but still experience the same trouble as you.

Why can't all brothers and sisters live together in harmony?

No wonder we get called thick paddy's, and are not taken seriously when we can't get our own people to think sensibly.
