Activities and events

On Monday the 24th May we will be welcoming a caravan of 60-100 cyclists to Cork City on their long distance cycle from Merthyr(Wales) to Rossport in Co. Mayo ! The purpose of their journey is to raise greater awareness of the respective struggles against Miller Argent and Royal Dutch Shell.

The Merthyr to Mayo Bike Ride schedule kicks off THIS WEEKEND:

On Friday 21st @ 4pm we will mark "The Chief's" 100th day in jail by gathering at DAUNT SQUARE, PATRICK STREET. Bring your friends, banners, and placards.

On Friday 21st @ 8.30pm in KINSALE at the TAP TAVERN Maura Harrington will be the keynote speaker at a Shell to Sea fund-raising gig that features 'Cor' (Cormac McHugh) and 'Roots Rising'.

On Saturday 22nd @ 1pm to 4pm a postcard writing stall for "The Chief" will be held outside ULSTER BANK, PATRICK STREET.

On Saturday 22 @ 3pm in RINGASKIDDY there will be a camp set up to accommodate the caravan and well-wishers. All welcome! @4pm there will be a guided tour of the "Peoples Forest". Later in the evening there will be a trad-session.

Sunday 23rd @ 12pm to 6pm a number of films will be screened at SOLIDARITY BOOKS, DOUGLAS STREET, CORK CITY. Discussions follow. @8pm till 11pm another Shell to Sea cabaret-style fund-raiser at CRUISCIN LAN, DOUGLAS STREET down the road from the previous venue.

On Monday 24th @12-2pm bike fixing and a picnic will be held at the PEACE PARK, CORK CITY. @ 2.30pm a "Solidarity Cycle" will leave from the PEACE PARK travel down South Mall - Patrick Street - Washington Street. @3pm we will send the caravan on its way. PS. If you feel like a mini-cycle then join the party until ANGLERS REST or further if you wish!
