Joe Biden Out in Apparent Palace Coup Mon Jul 22, 2024 17:30 | Eugyppius
Biden's team was still obliviously tweeting his resolve to fight on hours after he had decided to step down. So was the matter taken out of his hands? It has all the signs of an opportunistic palace coup, says Eugyppius.

Jump To Comment: 1 2 3I wish to express my condolences to the Rafferty Family. on hearing about the death of Mary. Rte News. to her son Ben, be proud and honoured that she was your mother. to her partner David, Mary was a woman who was compassion, justice and solidarity. to her mother Ita, I had the honour of meeting Mary. meeting with women from the Magdalene laundries, these women would tell me how Mary respected them. listened to them, and wanted these women to empower themselves
RIP Mary Raftery

Mary's humanist funeral took place today . After the service at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham her plain wicker coffin was shouldered by women . The coffin and hearse were unadorned by flowers as Mary had requested that money be donated instead to Dublin Zoo . Journalist Fintan O'Toole gave a very moving homily to his old friend and colleague . As well as members of her family there were several survivors of clerical abuse in attendance to give the woman who had done so much to highlight their cause the send-off she deserved .
