Attorney General Lord Hermer ? who was last week accused of likening ECHR-sceptics to Nazis ? seems to think 'Schmitt' is a polite way of saying 'Hitler'. He obviously has not read Schmitt, says Professor James Alexander.

If there is a Euro vote

category international | eu | opinion/analysis author Wednesday February 29, 2012 18:49author by cropbeye - n/aauthor address Proud to be Northside Cork Report this post to the editors

Whats important?

If there is a vote on the Euro compact campagainers should not go up a blind alley.

A lot of Irish Government and establishment figures dont actually know much about the workings of Europe in depth when you scatch
the surface.

Dont waste time on them.

As it know apears we are back into debating aspects of Europe I hope the anti establishment side dont get cought going up blind
alleys.

A lot of Government media and so called experts on Europe dont actually know a lot about the internal workings of Europe in any depth
when you scratch the surface. While on one level if people get asked on a vox pop or if they ring in the radios etc it is no harm to throw back in their faces Lisbon jobs for all and the heart of Europe. Well now we are begging for scraps off the table and we are saving for tickets to Australia and Canada.

Much more important to campagainers is to concentrate on talking about European actors on the manin stage and to go in detail into
their track records and at the actual substance of what they are trying to achieve on an ongoing basis.

Dont get cought up blind alleys concentrating on slagging off or even worrying about Irish poliiticians and talking heads for the most part.

Talk about the actions of Draghi Barosso Merkel and Sarkozy and in turn their bosses the bankers and speculators.
They all got us into a mess in the first plase. No local fights or issolation. Paint a picture of an allternative Europe build from the ground up

one which will require the current institutions to be replaced.
