Dunnes Stores animal charity Ban-are Blood Sports people behind it???

Rise? are they that Nasty ?

Re- THE BAN BY DUNNES STORES ON ANIMAL CHARITY COLLECTORS.
……POSSIBLY A REASON FOR THE 'CHARITY COLLECTORS 'STOPPAGE BY DUNNES STORES
ARE BLOODSPORTS PEOPLE REALLY THIS NASTY???

We refer to the ban by the Dunnes Store’s chain on allowing Animal charities to collect at their many shops.
This has shocked many welfare groups as no explanation has be given despite radio and newspaper coverage.

We were informed yesterday by a posting on the PRO RACING and COURSING forum GREYHOUND NUTS that the once vocal Pro stag- hunting group Rise [rural Ireland says Enough]were behind the ban by Dunnes Stores. We enclose the page from the blog below which is run by Tom Brett of Cork.

Unfortunately as Dunnes Stores will not answer questions put to them we cannot verify this revelation. We invite you to investigate further in an effort to explain the strange ‘less than compassionate ‘ stance that they have adopted.

AFAR feels to alienate any worthwhile cause without explanation is unjust.

AFAR feels to alienate any worthwhile cause without explanation is unjust. The large number of animals in need of new homes has increased dramatically here in Ireland due to the recession so registered charities must be helped to survive as most of their workers are voluntary and are helping discarded animals whose life depends on rescue efforts.

RISE Up Supermarkets.
« on: Today at 11:01:34 » Quote

RISE are delighted with the response they have received from major supermarkets regarding not allowing so called animal charities to fund raise in their store.
The vegan aims of the people running these charities was one of the main points which many stores took offence to as these are considered detrimental to the sales of many supermarket products.
Dunnes is the first store to enforce the ban and many more are expected to follow in the coming months.

Dunnes have been focusing on local worthy causes for a while now. A local School, sporting organisation or good causes, like day care centers, have a better chance of being allowed hold a bag pack, than a larger National or International organisation. The only animal linked charity acceptable are Guide dogs.

In fairness to Dunne's they are to be complimented on not allowing themselves to be bullied by threats of a boycott by vegans, although their fruit and veg section might lose a few cent in the process. It never did make sense to me on why in the first place they allowed these organisations, that use the charity laws to fund raise for their perverted aims, ie; to ban the use of animals in sport and the eating of meat , fish and fowl into their stores. I think Dunnes can absorb the loss of not having vegans as customers .

PS Bridie these animal rights groups / charities in particular ARAN are against using guide dogs for the blind as they say it is exploitation of animals.

AFAR.........WE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE TRUTH?????

what i would want to know is what is in it for dunnes stores to do such a thing?

author by eaglepublication date Sun Feb 03, 2013 14:49author address author phone Report this post to the editors

AFAR has some good contacts , they should go right to the top on this issue in my opinion. The present Justice Minister, Alan Shatter, is a long time campaigner against cruelty to animals and was for many years President of the Irish Council against Blood Sports. Not so long ago Alan even lost the FG party whip because of the principled stand he took against hare coursing in Ireland. Although you obviously can't force Dunnes Stores to take charity tins , this ban clearly discriminates against vegans . There might be some sort of a way to challenge it legally.

Dunnes arent big on charity workers,i work for an animal charity part time on saturdays and know this for a fact.
Anyway dunnes will never see the colour of my money, they are far too expensive for their pricing on 'fresh' food and perishable foods..Lidl is more my thing i come out with foods at a fraction of the price.

author by Cussypatpublication date Wed May 08, 2013 00:06author address author phone Report this post to the editors

Most people involved in animals rescue are not vegan. I rarely ever shopped in Dunnes as I used to work for them and ended up winning a labour court case against them, so I hate them anyway. This is just another example of what they are truly like. When I worked there about ten years ago, the staff were treated like filth on the managers shoes, and woe betide you if you tried to stand up for your basic rights. These are the same shower who continued to import apartheid fruit during an international embargo remember? The only thing they care about is making money, to hell with any sense of social or moral justice. I will never darken their doors again, that is for sure.
