Protest at Turkish Embassy : Death of Feride Harman Solidarity with Hunger Strikers in Turkey has called a protest vigil at the Turkish Embassy in Dublin to mark the death of Feride Harman. The protest will take place on Wednesday 18th December at 6pm at the Turkish Embassy, 11 Clyde Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. All welcome. Ms Harman, 27, joined the death fast while serving a life sentence in a south-eastern Turkish prison for membership of the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party Front (DHKP-C). She was on a six-month temporary release due to her deteriorating health and died on Sunday night at her home in Aksaray, near Istanbul, after fasting for almost 18 months. Feride is the 62nd hunger striker to die and in total 102 people have died opposing the isolation prisons in Turkey. |
