We're a week away from the most painful Budget in history thanks largely to the eye-watering cost of lockdown. Yet Baroness Hallett says next time the Government must be ready to go harder and faster. This is insanity.

Taxpayers Are Charged for the BBC Whether They Like it or Not Sat Nov 22, 2025 11:00 | Charlotte Gill
It's bad enough that all UK TV users are forced to fund the BBC via a TV licence. But it's worse than that, says Charlotte Gill: millions of pounds of taxpayers' money are handed to the corporation via backdoor channels.

Jump To Comment: 1 2isn´t it great the flag for the english langauge.
go check it out it´s a red flag with sickle and star.
oh very clever use of semiotics there Quico!
the first time i saw a basque flag was in a flat in Clarendon street in 1988. I was intrigued, a union jack in green red and white. wow.
and the Catalan flag is older than the Castillian but looks just like it.
Rockall has been given some jokey flags.
one is a union jack in green white and orange.
I remember DV8 (a magazine all ireland) using the tricolor union jack thing for a front cover.
oh dear the ructions.
I saw a squat in Brixron fly the tricolor union jack once in 1997. no ructions.
but that was Brixton in 1997 ructionless.
Rockall has lots of Oil.
That oil won´t get snuggly into barrels without a little bit of ruction.
i´d get thinking about that if I were you.
in Espapa it´s illegal to
1.criticise the King
2.support three political groupings.
3. ise Catalan on a TV program called "gran hermano" a Spanish version of the awardwinning reality programe Big Brother which began in the Netherlands in 98.
4. use Basque on TV programe "Operación Triomfo" a "stars in their eyes" teeny bopper wannabe show.
IF you break these laws, you get a letter from Judge Garzón judge number 4 of the Escorial.
Judge Garzón recently exchanged letters with EZLN spokesperson and poet Sub-commandant Marcos.
read those letters and the proposed ETA truce at
http://www.chiapas.org
it might have been a joke, Marcos does good jokes, but then again it might have had a element of truth, who knows in the time of dis-information, and besides the mouthpiece of that terrorist organisation are now illegal and voiceless so we can´t ask them.
Quico olé!
no passaran!
but i´d love to see a tricolor Irish for the english language button on your website.
....pero me gustaría ver un bandera irlandés!
:-)
funny old world.
If hi is catalonian then... why he speaked in spanish and not in english or in catalonian?
And he talked about dictadures in Spain. Yes i remember Franco, a Galizian suported by Catalonians (remember the cheers to Franco in Barcelona at the end of the war?) and Primo de Rivera, a catalonian. Who are the dictator makers?
