Wake up banner headline on the internet site advert for local police. they speak catalan. lovely bunch safe career. great perks. USA on the tv in the metro station. Yes TV in the metro station. great living in Barcelona. its a full page advert every month from the council.

same the world over I suppose. People arrested in Spain and London and France and Germany and every few days "the paranoia"
oh yes.

You are terrified of it all. No matter who you are and what you do. But some have anthrax vaccines some don´t.
Some save up for a year to buy an electrical generator so that when the electricity goes they have power. Some suffer no candles in the shops. Lots of examples in Brazil two years ago.
Some put a little aside every week for that rainy day. Some just can´t.
You are terrified.
You are supposed to be.

Leaders are paid and qualified to deal with terror.
That is why you can´t go up to them and talk to them. They find it unsettling.
They are very mobile. Leaders can go anywhere they like generally in a helicopter.
Terrible things helicopters. terrifying.
If you forget what terror is go look at a TV. TV is great for communicating terror.

Next time you watch an american movie with say Manhatten in the background and you notice the presence or absence of towers.
That is terror.
It continues to be Marked from one event.

You will not for example find yourself reflecting on J.L.Borges poem "Quiero dar gracías al Divino".

If you live in a let´s say middle size city with a fairish infrastructure you could think about contigency plans for talking to people about how we are going to stop them terrifying us and brainwashing most in to their terror/democratic contract.

All I see is a bunch of fascists trying to make arresting a few Muslims here and there into a conspiracy to scare us an justify their sick crusade.

When they raided the Finsbury Park Mosque in London they claimed they found a "mini arsenal", which turned out to be a stun gun, a tear gas jar and a replica gun, all held by the security men at the door to protect people inside from the many right wing attacks they suffer.

As Irish people we should remember the 1970's and 80's in England when we were the "terrorists" and it was Irish clubs that were raided by National Front fascists and SPG police. Remember the Birmingham Six, Guilford Four, Guisseppi Conlon, the McGuires, and many many more innocent Irish people who spent hundreds of years between them in British prisons?

Do you think the British establishment has changed it's spots just because they have had to slither out of Ireland?

As for the Spanish police, they still live with a Franco fascist ethos and I pity anyone who even innocently gets on their wrong side. To them it's just driving out the Moores once more. Italy has a Prime Minister who publicly declared Christianity "superior" to "islam".

Europe is as mad as the US, in fact it's the self same madness, carefully crafted by generations of PR consultants.
