We're a week away from the most painful Budget in history thanks largely to the eye-watering cost of lockdown. Yet Baroness Hallett says next time the Government must be ready to go harder and faster. This is insanity.

It's bad enough that all UK TV users are forced to fund the BBC via a TV licence. But it's worse than that, says Charlotte Gill: millions of pounds of taxpayers' money are handed to the corporation via backdoor channels.

English battle class cruiser in Dublin

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Wednesday March 19, 2003 17:24author by John MacLoughlin Report this post to the editors

At approximately 13:20 today 19/03/03 an English battle class warship docked at John Rogersons quay in the river Liffey amid heavy security,

It was observed docking only to be greeted by members of the special detective unit (special branch) sitting in a red Ford escort, registration 01D 71481 with garda Damien Ryan taking up position at the gangplank, Then shortly after docking at 13:32 approximately the English ambassador to the freestate arrived in a black Jaguar with his personal escorts driving a navy Toyota Camry, he was observed boarding the vessel to be greeted by it's captain. It'll be interesting to see the English flag being lowered at 18:30 approximately to the strains of the last post. WHAT ARE WE PREPARED TO DO???
