To be honest the pro-war whinging about Iraqi's not fighting fair is a little unconvincing. I mean they launch this war telling us Saddam is a terrible monster and then they complain about minor infringements of the Geneva convention! You expected a 'monster' not to do this?
There is a long history of military forces using civilians as shields - go up to west Belfast and see where the British military and RUC put their fortified bases for instance. The US army in Vietnam used to force locals to walk in front of their patrols so they'd detonate mines or deter ambushes.
The difference is that the Iraqi army with 30 year old weapons is fighting the most advanced military force in the world. They know what happened to them when they fought in open countryside. So they intend to fight in the cities and hope to defeat the US in the same way the Russians beat the Nazis at Stalingrad. Nasty shit all right but supporters of this war should be aware that 'collateral damage" spin can be used by both sides.
You supported this war. What did you expect. Your asshole leader Bush is managing to make Saddam a nationalist hero in Iraq and across the Arab world. Not good for Arab or US workers - but good for Arab and US bosses who need 'strong leaders' to keep us down.

The Iraqi people you refer to as "Civilians" live there in Nazarea. They are in their homes where their brothers and sisters are fighting galantly against the massed armies of the US/UK Empire invasion force. It is a lie and a misrepresentation to say they are being used as human shields.
Just because the Pentagon says something doesn't mean its neccessarily untrue. It could be bullshit but Saddam's army are hardly angels, they would be very willing to do anything to stay in power, including using Iraqi people as human shields, they have afterall killed 500,000 plus Iraqis, mostly Shias and Kurds. I know the US are bullshiters, I don't believe much of what they say unless it's been confirmed by independent witnesses or Amnesty. All I hope now is that the Iraqi people rise up to get rid of Saddam and his regime and stop the Yanks from taking over.
