This is a public interest story about a complete failure of governance and management at UCC.

offsite link Deliberate Design Flaw In ChatGPT-5 Sun Aug 17, 2025 08:04 | Mind Agent
Socratic Dialog Between ChatGPT-5 and Mind Agent Reveals Fatal and Deliberate 'Design by Construction' Flaw
This design flaw in ChatGPT-5's default epistemic mode subverts what the much touted ChatGPT-5 can do... so long as the flaw is not tickled, any usage should be fine---The epistemological question is: how would anyone in the public, includes you reading this (since no one is all knowing), in an unfamiliar domain know whether or not the flaw has been tickled when seeking information or understanding of a domain without prior knowledge of that domain???!

This analysis is a pretty unique and significant contribution to the space of empirical evaluation of LLMs that exist in AI public world... at least thus far, as far as I am aware! For what it's worth--as if anyone in the ChatGPT universe cares as they pile up on using the "PhD level scholar in your pocket".

According to GPT-5, and according to my tests, this flaw exists in all LLMs... What is revealing is the deduction GPT-5 made: Why ?design choice? starts looking like ?deliberate flaw?.

People are paying $200 a month to not just ChatGPT, but all major LLMs have similar Pro pricing! I bet they, like the normal user of free ChatGPT, stay in LLM's default mode where the flaw manifests itself. As it did in this evaluation.

offsite link AI Reach: Gemini Reasoning Question of God Sat Aug 02, 2025 20:00 | Mind Agent
Evaluating Semantic Reasoning Capability of AI Chatbot on Ontologically Deep Abstract (bias neutral) Thought
I have been evaluating AI Chatbot agents for their epistemic limits over the past two months, and have tested all major AI Agents, ChatGPT, Grok, Claude, Perplexity, and DeepSeek, for their epistemic limits and their negative impact as information gate-keepers.... Today I decided to test for how AI could be the boon for humanity in other positive areas, such as in completely abstract realms, such as metaphysical thought. Meaning, I wanted to test the LLMs for Positives beyond what most researchers benchmark these for, or have expressed in the approx. 2500 Turing tests in Humanity?s Last Exam.. And I chose as my first candidate, Google DeepMind's Gemini as I had not evaluated it before on anything.

offsite link Israeli Human Rights Group B'Tselem finally Admits It is Genocide releasing Our Genocide report Fri Aug 01, 2025 23:54 | 1 of indy
We have all known it for over 2 years that it is a genocide in Gaza
Israeli human rights group B'Tselem has finally admitted what everyone else outside Israel has known for two years is that the Israeli state is carrying out a genocide in Gaza

Western governments like the USA are complicit in it as they have been supplying the huge bombs and missiles used by Israel and dropped on innocent civilians in Gaza. One phone call from the USA regime could have ended it at any point. However many other countries are complicity with their tacit approval and neighboring Arab countries have been pretty spinless too in their support

With the release of this report titled: Our Genocide -there is a good chance this will make it okay for more people within Israel itself to speak out and do something about it despite the fact that many there are actually in support of the Gaza

offsite link China?s CITY WIDE CASH SEIZURES Begin ? ATMs Frozen, Digital Yuan FORCED Overnight Wed Jul 30, 2025 21:40 | 1 of indy
This story is unverified but it is very instructive of what will happen when cash is removed
THIS STORY IS UNVERIFIED BUT PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO OR READ THE TRANSCRIPT AS IT GIVES AN VERY GOOD IDEA OF WHAT A CASHLESS SOCIETY WILL LOOK LIKE. And it ain't pretty

A single video report has come out of China claiming China's biggest cities are now cashless, not by choice, but by force. The report goes on to claim ATMs have gone dark, vaults are being emptied. And overnight (July 20 into 21), the digital yuan is the only currency allowed.

Is it just me or is this newswire crap?

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Friday May 10, 2002 17:57author by - Report this post to the editors

While a lot of stuff here seems to be fitting the 'independent news' description, most of it seems to be the makings of a shite bulletin board where no one has anything better to do than mouth off at each other. Or is that just my imagination?

They are not serving us correctly.

I demand better quality of news for me to consume when I feel a bit right on, and I demand the delivery of this without me being required to understand any of the ethos, structure or purpose of Indymedia.

I also demand that the shite bulletin board in preparation is released immediately.

Yes. There is a problem with people who can't read basic editorial guidelines, and users who use the "add your comments" link to write about unrelated or sideline topics.

The solution is not heavy handed editing, it's creating more and better news. Also use the Indymedia Discussion Board for election arguments.

A lot of left-wing activists appear to think that they "own" Indymedia and that it's their in-house debating circle. No-one can stop them misunderstanding the international Indymedia mission, but at least the sensible and worthwhile contributors can become the dominant part of the site, rather than (as on some occasions) the drowned-out voice.

Join us on the editorial list (email imc-ireland-editorial-request@lists.indymedia.org to subscribe) and discuss any issues you have there. The newswire itself's not the best place for discussing editorial policy as such discussions also contribute to the bunging up of the wire.

The reason that was put on the Newswire wasn't as a criticism of Indymedia (I spend a lot of time on the other Indymedia sites), but to make the point to Indymedia Ireland -users-. I don't mean to point fingers at the staff.

The site is becoming worthless as a -news- site. As political debate, or as a space to mouth off in regards to whatever's bothering you that day, it's very effective.

But as a news resource?

author by BTBT - SPpublication date Fri May 10, 2002 18:50author address author phone Report this post to the editors

As more things happen it will be reported and the newswire will become just that. Its hard to report on protests all the time when they are not happening. In the meantime it is very good to have a discussion site. I am personally very very impressed with the site and think it will be very usefull. All involved have done an excellent job and its already taken the notice of the mainstream media.
Theres nothing wrong with political discussion as long as it doesn't develop into slagging matches. More disscussion boards and a more obvious link to them from the homepage could help.

I think that Indymedia is great.
People can log on and express their feelings and ideas. Some folks complain about bitchin. Funny, these folks are usually from the SWP. If they don't want bitchin they can read their moronic tabloid. No bitchin there, just fabricated consensus. Do you remember the former SW journalist who told us that SW interviews are either made up or SWP members who are not identified as such? If that's the kind of press they love, I can understand why they don't like Indymedia. Indymedia is free and if people don't like freedom, then they should read something else. Well done indymedia. The front page is great. The reports by indymedia volunteers are brilliant. Thank you.

I'm against censorship, but if we could ban SWP members from Indymedia, I would be in favour. They never say anything relevant. They just complain if people don't agree wioth their party line. Be careful indymedia, they will try to hijack the website.

If you're in favour of banning the SWP then you're pro-censorship.

I don't agree with banning them.

I think they have as much right to comment and post as anyone else. I think most of us feel that.

I don't agree with them posting entire election posts as opposed to summaries and links, it pisses me off when they put up a page or two of meandering rubbish.

But I reckon they reap the fruits of their labours amply.

No censorship.

Whoever brought this up please get a life - no banning swp - some of them make good contributions to the site in terms of news stories and some of them have helped in getting it off the ground.

I have a lot of problems with their organisation myself but feel open debate is a better way forward on this than Bush-like unilateral gestures 'with -us or- against-us' style bullshit about banning people or organisations.

I speak with swp people all the time at events and demos and number some of them as friends. I'm not into categorising them just on the basis of the organisation of which they are a part. Personally I would like to see organisations not even involved in the 'left' on here debating issues.

Personally I'd like to see the S.W.P. on here more, they don't seem to respond to people's criticisms at all (except 'Unity is Strength' 'Provocation' and other no answers).
As for taking over the site - I don't think they have much chance given that people have an automatic 'right to reply'.
I could see them ignoring this site altogether.
Too much debate, too much democracy.
The only people who should be censored off this site are trolls and neo-nazi nutters, and then only because it is very necessary to avoid senseless disruption.
S.W.P. please post more often, respond to people's points, argue your case.

one must know that SWP are troskyites and like many of those groups have the detestable habit of being sectarian. they still revere Marx and believe that his theories are scientific therefore that no opposition or criticism as it's so well proven. furthermore they laud trotsky who, not unlike his rival but on a smaller scale, was a mass murderer ( cf the sailors of
Kronstadt);
