The BBC's Director of Comedy wants to "save the sitcom". But the sitcom is only endangered because most of them stopped being funny. As To the Manor Born reminds us, British comedy has lost its class, says Finlay McLaren.

Is the era of cheap internet surveys over? A new paper demonstrates that AIs can now be "trivially programmed" to answer online surveys in ways that are essentially indistinguishable from humans.

offsite link Thank Lockdowns for the Worst Budget in History Sat Nov 22, 2025 13:00 | Will Jones
We're a week away from the most painful Budget in history thanks largely to the eye-watering cost of lockdown. Yet Baroness Hallett says next time the Government must be ready to go harder and faster. This is insanity.

offsite link Taxpayers Are Charged for the BBC Whether They Like it or Not Sat Nov 22, 2025 11:00 | Charlotte Gill
It's bad enough that all UK TV users are forced to fund the BBC via a TV licence. But it's worse than that, says Charlotte Gill: millions of pounds of taxpayers' money are handed to the corporation via backdoor channels.

how to help Martin.

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Wednesday June 11, 2003 14:10author by ipsiphi Report this post to the editors

for people with a little money who care..

first off Martin is well and recuperating after the bridge incident. You can send him messages of support or suggestions of "money" to g8injured03@riseup.net. A posting from his neighbourhood Okupe Can Masdeu in Barcelona says he is ok though. info below sloppy sorry i dont have time to be neat...

his pelvis and vertebrae are recovering favourably. Other bones will be operated on in the next few days he is to be transferred to another room out of intensive care, and doctors think he will be six weeks more in Hospital.
and his balls are swollen like footballs.

salud’.
