Lost Leaders.....The Mammy Harney

a reflection on the girth of the Mammy Harney's ambition.

including a short profile of the Mammy Harney presently leader of the Progressive Democrats and Assistant Premier of the Irish State.

for local and foreign readers.
(difficulty upper intermediate listening comprehension material linked advanced difficulty)
{there will not be a test. We are still on hols.}

Who is the Mammy Harney?

She is mixture of many contemporary Irish stereotypes and is in common parlance a heavy muddah. She is very well conected my friends.
But so too are you... Read on.

biography of the Mammy presented by RTE the Irish State maintained media service that faked a news report on trees on Cork Street a week ago.
This biog was formulated for the Millenium celebrations in Ireland. Most other people just got presented a candle and were told to light it at midnight. That's the sort of sweet place Ireland is, you get a candle from the government to light at the eve of the 21st century so you are not scared by all the terrible uncertainty of issues that are very difficult to understand.

http://www.maryharney.ie/biography.html
The Mammy does humble. Humility is popular in politicians and the voters often go for the "down to earth style" which the Mammy as one of the first of her convent school to attend TCD developed with the gut instincts common to so many of her kind.

Humility : right down to the spelling mistakes which abound on her home site pages.
example:
In 1997 the Mammy Harney became "the first woman in Ireland to lead a Party into a Coaliton Governemnt."

She then invites the cybernaut to link to out of date achievements.

"Mary Banotti also made reference to the increase in refugees and noted that the freedom that Collins spoke about allows the people to generously respond to the needs of those who seek sanctuary here.

"His vision brings us right up to the present when we are being challenged as a nation in our attitudes to the arrival of people of different cultures, colours and creeds to our own," she said.

Collins' clear vision of the improvement in the social and economic development in Ireland were always tempered by his concern that this prosperity would not lead to national greed. "He stated that we must not have any destitution of poverty at one end and at the other an excess of riches in the possession of a few indivduals."

*** recently I have had less than positive feedback for being perceived to be occasionally less than politically correct from mostly North American readers. But others just saw it like it is. I append this excerpt from Lizz Kurzaza's interesting look at new genetic breakthroughs that it is hoped will lead to comercially viable weight loss genetic therapies in the next ten years.
And so "size-ism" one of the last acceptable prejudices of Western Civilisation that abounds in the slothful, podgey and overfed may finally be dealt with.

Buaille being of course an ancient Gaelic word with some sort of connotations of pasture for cattle or so I believe .....

Time.

What do you do with it?
Well we can work with data more efficiently in the current models if we only slightly rework that most famous of Pythagorean theorems.
We then assign time a value let us say Z no T.
zzzt.
tzzz.

and of course square that. That's how the triangle goes jingle jangle. Now the equation ought read:
x2+y2=
do you remember your hypoteneuse?
always difficult to spell that one.
ok rotations of objects or points in three dimensions and that quantity time can be written:
r2 = x2 + y2 + z2, where x, y and z are distances in the three spatial directions respectively.

test it.
you see that the familiar relations apply. That is, if we rotate an object a degrees about the z axis we can write x = r * sin a and y = r * cos a.

Now The crucial difference is that 'rotations' in spacetime conserve not distances but space-time intervals, which are found from a slightly modified version of Pythagoras' Theorem: R2 = x2 + y2 + z2- t2. As you can see, the time difference between two events subtracts from the space-time interval, rather than adding to it.

how's your locality?
entanglement?
cause and effect?

So you probably won't be able to re-assemble it and use it.
