Money for votes

category national | politics / elections | opinion/analysis author Friday August 15, 2003 21:20author by Jack Daw - None Report this post to the editors

The governments grandmaster plan!

What's the bets that Fianna Faíl will again run away with the election in four years time again? I'd say they're well on the ball with regards how their voters are swayed. Whilst Fine Gael and Labour wail about how our health system is gone to the dogs and how unemployment is sky-rocketing Fianna Fail have still run away with the elections. By appealing to peoples greed for money our government have set a fullproof plan that over the coming years will ensure their re-election. First on the list are the special savings accounts which hatch at the same time of the elections (conveniently). This vast dispersal of wealth will temporarily BLIND the masses and generate an all-round boost in an environment of higher un-employment and private companies. Soon the P'ds and Fianna Fail will achieve their goals and succeed in selling off CIE and Aer Rianta. This will more than adequately fund the ssia's and allow the government to fund projects on the roads and in the health service as well as satisfying the P'ds need to see all public services privatised. How the elections go are up to the voters themselves, Personally I find the current government un-reliable and too likely to follow their own agenda rather than listen to the peoples opinion (the war on Iraq and march of 10'000ppl through dublin).

Agree with many of the things your saying above Jack but:-

Becuase people's voting preferences are largely determined by greed - and the economy is entering a big slump with no signs of recovery for several years, and with prospect of further world destabilization from large scale terrorist attacks and wars - I think the odds of FF running away with the election next time round have been shortened by a big extent.

This is indeed not news, but neither is the, frankly annoying, attempt to re-ignite the pointless and unproductive trot bashing that has dogged this site. Posting serious unsubstantiated allegations in bite size form is trolling and not helpful to anybody except those who wish to see the collapse of independent media in ireland

No Luc it is not news, that is why I entered under the opinions section on elections. Everybody is entitled to their opinions and their rights to share them with others.

Also please forgive the poor presentaion as I didn't have time to edit it and as a result the article and opinion did suffer.

Yes Luc, it's a little known fact that the SP has developed a special invisibility cream, thus enabling them to stuff ballot boxes without ever, once, being caught or accused by anyone with any credibility - other than you, of course.
